“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

We visited the birdlime park on a wet, overcast day. Although the weather was rubbish, we thoroughly enjoyed our day and the amazing work these people do to preserve these wonderful creatures! It's really hard to think that this site was once a rubbish dump... The whole park is run on money from entry fees, donations and the sale of souveneirs. It is truly worth a look and make sure you spend up big in the shop, like we did!

“Rare oppurtunity to see Kiwi Bird”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We have visited Kiwi Birdlife Park in Sep 2012. Staff is very friendly and the Kiwi bird is kept in a sort of dark room. It has got really long beak and the size of the bird is much bigger than I've expected. It is a medium size park in hill area and we have enjoyed the walk around. There are lot of native birds(mainly Parrot family). We did learn about the Kiwi bird and its history. The size of the Kiwi egg is really big.

Overall it was a pleasant place to visit if you are in Queenstown even though it was a bit expensive and the money is going for a good cause.

“A pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We went basically to see a kiwi....we thought it was quite expensive to get in but thought well when else are we going to see one!! What a surprise it was! The exhibits were excellent, the staff were awesome and obviously loved their jobs and the audio guide (included in the ticket) was great!

Can't fault it, a must see!!!
Just a note if you have a pram....not very stroller friendly, definitely better with a big three wheel pram!!

Thank you for your lovely review. We also appreciate your comments about your pram. We are working on this for the upcoming summer and will be concreting a path to the kiwi house from the deck that will have an easier gradient, and we are also upgrading all of the paths within the Park so that they will be easier to push a pram over. Thanks again.

“Up close with a Kiwi!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

A real must-do in Queenstown. With all the high adrenaline stuff happening around Queenstown, take a breather and go see the Kiwis (and Tuataras). The specially lit nocturnal enclosure means you can sit for a minute to let your eyes adjust, and then watch these fascinating birds wander about doing what Kiwis do, while at set times, the keepers feed and give a talk about the birds. As well, the rest of the park is a great little microcosm of NZ wildlife and nature (glad we got the audio tour kits). Also had a bird show with some good info about the ecology and dangers to NZ's wildlife from the introduced fauna. It really showed that the park staff were enthusiastic about their animals and the shop/ticket staff were very friendly and helpful. And at the end, you get that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that your entry fee is supporting Kiwi and wildlife conservation in NZ. Totally enjoyable.
