“A wonderfull SteamShip trip surrounded by Snow covered Alps”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

A wonderful trip, dont just take the boat trip, take the Farm excursion too to Walter Peak -- well worth the day.....a great demonstration of farm life, and either a morning/arvo tea and additional animal feeding and stories, or BBQ and history and trip around the homestead your choice.
We had 2 days of snow in Spring, and then a bright sunny day perfect as fresh snow all over..... It was chilly but wonderful... you need to pick your day to get the best views, but even on a less than nice day, its still a great experience.

“A Great Piece of History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

We arrived in Queenstown and decided on a cruise because it was cold and rainy and we just didn't want to be outside. The TSS Earnslaw is a coal fired steam ship that has been in operation for over a hundred years. There are several touring options including a sheep station and dinner at the sheep station. We opted for the cruise only. The engine room can be viewed from the seating area or from a catwalk that goes right through it. It is fun to watch them start and stop the engine on command from the bridge and watch the stoker load coal into the boilers. There was room to move around, the seats were comfortable and food and drinks were available for sale. Good way to spend a couple of hours.

“A treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

This is truly an iconic piece of Queenstown and her history. Upon the ship docking in Queenstown watching the coal being poured into the boat added to the experience, as was getting my photo taken. On the way to Walter Peak farm, you have the choice of either exploring the steam boat including the engine room, taking in scenery that no other boat tour in the region offers or as I did-both! The Earnslaw is large, with plenty of seating and food options if need be and will be exciting for all ages. It is a little pricey (55 NZD) and having an option to buy a photo without all the additional merchandise (key rings, cd of professional photos) would have been nice as an improvement. Still, an amazing trip, thank you.

“Great Trip with Spectacular Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We had a fantastic trip in the TSS Earnslaw. The views are spectacular to say the least. We opted to just do the round trip on the boat, but are thinking next time to do the lunch at the sheep station if the weather is good! The crew are very friendly and it does have drinks and nibbles on board. The trip is a must do while visiting Queenstown, on this lovely vintage old steam boat!

“My first trip on the Earnslaw”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

And it was raining heavens hard and blowing a gale but I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It was great to be able to see the engine room and the fire being stoked and what great condition the steamer is in. The food was basic but OK and there's not a lot to do in such filthy weather conditions. Glad we did the ride only as it would have been very miserable at Walter Peak Station under umbrellas.
