“Whistler.. not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2005

We stayed in the one bedroom apartment for 7 nights. The apartment had modern facilities eg. dishwasher, electric cooker, washing machine, stereo & dvd. Perfect!

Heating or noise was not an issue however during our stay our apartment was not serviced. Service was an additional charge which we found out on the fourth night.

It would have been nice for housekeeping to check rubbish bins/ toilet paper supplies or to ensure there was enough for the entire stay.

Customer Service was 'so so' but the lovely older lady was extremely nice who we met on our final day.

My husband and I stayed at The Whistler mid-March 2005 for four nights. As mentioned by the previous reviewer, the apartments are more than adequate in terms of facilities however the major problem for us was the noise of a busy road. The balcony and living room face the busy road and it certainly detracts from the beautiful view. The apartments are fairly new and we experienced a couple of teething problems. For example, we discovered you could not plug the lamp, clock-radio and electric blanket in at the same time as there were only two power points! Another thing to note is the heating. Whilst it wasn't too cold when we were there, we did need heating at night and the only available heating is a small oil column heater and bathroom floor heating. I think the small oil heater may struggle to heat the whole apartment in winter. Overall The Whistler is modern, close easy walk to town but noisy due to being on a very busy road.

The nice and clean 1 bedroom apartment had a lot of amenities and was ready to be lived in. It had a fully stocked kithchen (with dishwasher), a living area with couch and TV, and a bathroom that contained a washer/dryer. There was also a balcony that overlooked Bob's Peak but since it also overlooked a busy street I was not inclined to linger on it. The bedroom was away from the street and it was very quiet in there. The managers are new and are very helpful and friendly. They brought a food basket since they had cleaned the living room carpet and I couldn't make use of that room until evening (which didn't bother me although the lingering cleaner smell did somewhat). It is a few minutes pleasant walk to get to the center of town. One thing to be aware of is that if staying multiple nights, the apartment will not be serviced. For the cheap rate I paid, it was fine with me, though, and was one of the best values of my New Zealand vacation.
