“magnificant place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2011

We have never been disappointed with our visits to Goldridge. Very pleasant atmosphere, with friendly happy staff, and superior accomodation.

Room Tip: Come prepared to enjoy and relax.

Although our room was very dated and small, the service on arrival was very friendly.
We could very easily hear the voices in the next room through the walls,
The restaurant had amazing food including great quality childrens meals and nice fireplace and views. Our meals took a long time to arrive, but was worth the wait.
The room wasn't somewhwere you would want to hang out in. We couln't even leave our door open for fresh air because there were so many wasps hanging around.
We stayed here this time using our 'Flybuys', but wouldn't 'pay' to stay here-sorry.
The noisy people in the spa seemed to be loving it though.

Room Tip: If you want a view, ask for a room accordingly

The views over the lake and mountains at such a reasonable rate make this place fantastic. The licensed restaurant was a real treat- great food and service. Being just out of the central area was nice- felt like a real getaway holiday. I would recommend this to my friends!

Room Tip: Lakeview executive rooms are the go...

This would have been your standard hotel if it weren't for the fabulous views. Our view was so incredible we ended up grabbing take-out and picnicking on our balcony one evening. After dinner we took advantage of the free spa downstairs - which was perfect after a day full of adventure activities. This place is a bit out of town though so i'd recommend staying here if you have a car.

We were due to stay in this hotel in January 2011 however our flight from the UK was cancelled due to bad weather on 20 December 2010. I e mailed the hotel immediately to inform them that unfortunately we had no choice but to cancel and I gave them about 10 days notice. I did not receive a reply to my e mail so I phoned them and was told there would be no refund as it was a web booking. This was not made clear at the time of booking otherwise I would have tried somewhere else. It is there is the small print if you search hard enough but I feel that in this day and age you should not be penalised in this way for booking over the internet. Wake up New Zealand and get with it a bit more with technology - I have had better experiences dealing with third world countries! I Just wanted people to be aware so they do not make the same expensive mistake as me - check and double check the cancellation policy and if in doubt go elsewhere.

We do appreciate the circumstances under which you had to cancel your booking and understand your frustration for not being able to travel, however as you acknowledged we do have a policy in place which state that no cancellations are accepted for Internet bookings, that is in line with standard business practice.

This was the best hotel of our NZ trip. We had a Superior Lakeview queen room on the ground floor, with our own small terrace with view on the lake and the Remarkablrs. This hotel was our base for doing the Routeburn track, and the motel kept our belongings, and ensured that everything was already in our room when we returned. We got the most wonderful thinking ahead service here, especially from Jamie, but also from all the others on the team. We enjoyed the hot-pool when returning from the track. We had a lovely buffet breakfast included in our rate. This hotel, with its pleasant layout and elevated location with wonderful view, as well as a fine team to attend to your needs, is a pleasure to stay in, at a very reasonable price.

We were speechless when we walked into our room. We had opted for a superior double lake view room & got a corner room. The room had both a front & a side view of the lake, so you would wake up in the morning to the most breathtaking views. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the town centre since the hotel is about 10 mts away from the town centre. The rooms open out to beautifully landscaped lawns. We spent 3 nights here instead of the originally planned 2 day trip
