“Crowne Plaza was a pleasant surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2009

We had stayed at several B&Bs during our honeymoon and we weren't sure what to expect from a hotel chain, but the service provided by the staff was genuine, friendly, and personable. I can't commend them enough!! We utilized the Concierge's (Nathan) services and he was most helpful in making our arrangements and offering recommendations for the area. The rooms are spacious, contemporary, and comfortable. Ours was facing the courtyard and offered a scenic glimpse of the nearby mountains. Not a lakeview, but beautiful just the same!..Parking/valet was a low rate and only a small fraction compared to other large cities in the U.S. that are located in the downtown areas (San Fran, Chicago, D.C., etc). Besides, there was meter parking throughout the surrounding area so it was nice to just walk around and only get the car for when we did our road trips. There is a coin operated laundry on the 5th floor and I believe the hotel also provides laundry services for a nominal fee. We didn't eat at the restaurant during our stay but they had music at night and a cool vibe. Everything is within walking distance which is a plus if you want to enjoy the nightlife.

While in Queenstown, some things we highly enjoyed and we recommend: the Luge (a must!!); grab an enormous burger at Fergberger; enjoy NZ delicious culinary specialties for dinner at the casual Fishbone Bar & Grill; had a delicious breakfast at Captain's; great authenticty for Japanese fare at Hikari Izakaya; for horseback riding --High Country Horses in Glenorchy which you can drive or they will pick you up in Queenstown and was a great experience!; and we participated in a pub crawl which allowed us to venture to multiple bars, meet people and was a blast! We loved Queenstown and staying at the Crown Plaza really enhanced our visit! :)

The Crowne Plaza Queenstown is perfectly located in the centre of town, a short walk from all the (many) attractions.
Staff are friendly and attentive and check-in and out was a breeze.
Rooms are reasonably sized and modern with adequate storage space.
There is a sauna/spa but no gym, although there is an agreement with a local gym.
Breakfast is good and the restaurant in the evenings is excellent.
Really enjoyed my stay here

Fantastic hotel - very friendly staff. Breakfast was nice and good selection. Location is great - a few minutes walk and you're in the centre of things. Would recommend lakeview if you can afford it - we were on level 7 which is a lakeview but is in the rear building - if you can get high floor in the front building for absolute lakefront stunning view. Rooms very nice and clean - very comfortable beds and nice linen. Couldnt fault the hotel - would stay here again in a flash and recommend

Spent 3 nights at this property. Wonderful location, nicely appointed room and a really friendly staff. Rate included a full breakfast "and" Internet access.

What more can one say, I'd stay there again without a second thought.

Dinners at: Pier 19, Botswana Butcher and Luciano's. Wharf Pub is a neat place for a drink. Botswana Butcher was "excellent" in all respects...

Million Dollar Cruise - Queenstown provides a cool 90 minute cruise around the lake. You can't go wrong with this boat tour.

Booked our 2 night stay last minute through wotif and got what we thought was a very good deal bearing in mind the price of studios in the centre of town here, $NZ500; 2 people 2 nights incl breakfast in a lake view room with balcony, parking & 2 bottles of wine. It has great lake front, town centre location, easy to find but not so easy to find the car park. We received a good welcome from reception, once we emptied it our car was parked though access was available if we wanted it. On 5th floor with great views of the lake, the Remarkables and the Earnslaw. Room not that big but comfortable and very clean. We had the inclusive breakfast both mornings; restaurant pleasant enough but quite cool air conditioning, especially as experienced early snowfall quite low on mountains. We were quite late our 1st morning and food only really lukewarm, 2nd morning much hotter. Plenty of choice of hot & cold buffet. We ate in the restaurant one night, probably very good but not really to our taste (very nouvelle cuisine) and as you would expect overpriced.
It was the location that was great for us as on the flat to get about, close to lake, town centre and lots of opportunities for walks, reccies etc. The staff were friendly & helpful. If we were lucky enough to visit Queenstown again we would stay there, provided the price was right.

The Crowne Plaza Queenstown has the perfect central location on Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, the adrenaline capital of the world. A terrific family destination with so much to do for all ages and all adventure levels. This beautiful hotel had newly renovated rooms with fresh contemporary décor and the MOST comfortable beds of our Australia/NZ trip including a pillow menu.

Walk to everything including The Steamers Wharf just steps away full of restaurants (we enjoyed The Boardwalk for seafood) and around the corner, the most sumptuous hot chocolate on the planet at Patagonia. All of the shops are also within blocks. Gantleys is a wonderful dining experience with an unbelievable wine library - they will pick you up.

The service at the Crowne Plaza Queenstown rivaled some of the best luxury hotels we've visited. We will definitely visit Queenstown and the Crowne Plaza again. We have been home all of 4 days and have already started a new “savings jar” for our next visit there :) WE LOVED IT!!!

Before we rave about this place, parking is not free and wasn't cheap. That aside, this was one of our favorite places we stayed at. The center of Queenstown and the lake is right outside the hotel's main entrance. The hotel itself was very modern, with well trained staff and a swanky little (expensive) restaurant in-house. There wasn't much to not like about this place. We'd definitely go again!
