“The B&B for those who prefer luxury hotels!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2009

My husband and I have worked for hotel companies for many years, so we're pretty picky about our accommodations, and usually prefer staying in luxury hotels when we're on leisure travel - and we usually avoid B&Bs if we can. However, Evergreen Lodge is the exception as we loved it! We've been traveling all over New Zealand and Australia, and this was by far the best B&B we've stayed at. Murray and Tish's fabulous lodge, located on Lake Wakatipu, has a great view of the Remarkables mountain range beyond the lake. We had the very large room downstairs, which was thoughtfully fitted out with all the necessities - and felt like it had been recently redone. And you can't beat having Murray and Tish to help you with recommendations for restaurants and things to do in Queenstown. Murray and Tish were also wonderful hosts generally - we never felt pressured to do anything (incl having breakfast as we're not morning people!), and it felt like you had your own space, not a room in someone's house. Yes, it's a little drive from town, but we absolutely plan to stay at Evergreen Lodge on our next trip to Queenstown.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Evergreen Lodge on our honeymoon. I normally don't care for BnB's,but the Evergreen is outstanding. The rooms are spacious, the view is amazing, the breakfast offers eggs that are produced by chickens from the property. They have a weight room and sauna. It is close to town. Tish and Murray are perfect hosts. We were sad to leave. I would highly recommend the Evergrenn Lodge.

We stayed and Evergreen lodge for two nights. We thought that the bed and breakfast was very nice. It was clean, the room was beautiful and the owners were extremely helpful in helping us plan our trip on the South Island. The owner made a wonderful breakfast every morning and did everything to make our stay comfortable. The one comment I would make after staying at other properties in and around Queenstown is that the price is more expensive that it probably should be, however, you are paying for the experience and the comfort of an intimate setting.

What to say that has not already been said. Arrived into Queenstown pretty tired from the flight in from the UK and feeling a little sad about being away from Christmas.

All that disappeared the moment we arrived at Evergreen Lodge and met Tish and Murray. They put as at ease from the moment we arrived and were so welcoming and genuinely helpful.

The lodge itself was beautiful and immaculate with stunning views across the lake to the Remarkables.

They helped us work out things to do and helped us organise them despite being Christmas.

The highlight for me though was the breakfast which wouldn't have been out of place in a michelin starred restaurant. There were so many tastes and flavours involved that I couldn't even begin to do them justice but the fruit was so fresh and was presented beautifully.

Guys thanks so much for getting our holidays off to such a fantastic start and making our stay so enjoyable

My wife and I toured New Zealand in Feb and March 2008. We stayed at 12 Lodges and we found Evergreen to be the one that made our holiday really special. Why - well from the moment Murray our host burst through the frontdoor to welcome us to the sad farewell after 4 nights we were treated like royalty.

Our bedroom was enormous and the views of the lake and the Remarkables mountains were absolutely spectacular. In the morning at sunrise they looked to be on fire!

Our hosts seemed to have thought of everything - the freshly baked cookies and muffins left out every day, the bottles of wine to help ourselves in the evening and a truly sumptious breakfast even on the day we had to leave very early for the coach trip to Doubtful Sound.

We found all the 12 lodges in New Zealand good - but Evergreen exceeded our expectations by some measure - hotels just do not compare for a real personal experience hosted the home of New Zealanders.

We arrived at Evergreen after a very long journey from the UK and the weariness of travel evaporated within minutes. Tish and Murray are delightful hosts, with your every need expertly taken care of.
The lodge itself is luxurious whilst still retaining the feeling of home-comforts thanks to Marie's fantastic cooking.
We hope to get back to Queenstown soon and will definitely look to stay at Evergreen.

We arrived at Evergreen Lodge on a beautiful day after a long journey from the UK. We were met by Murray and Tish, who from the outset were charming.

Evergreen Lodge is situated in an idyllic position and our suite was of the highest quality with magnificent views.

Murray and Tish organised dinner engagements and visits to local beauty spots. There was good wine to enjoy pre dinner, homemade cakes and tea at the end of the day's visits.

Our experience at Evergreen Lodge was memorable and we look forward to our next visit.
