“Book an extra night! Cindy and Lace make a great place special.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014 via mobile

Cindy and Lace made us feel at home. She keeps all sorts of fresh muffins, snacks, and tea in her kitchen which is open to guests. The fridge is stocked with beer, juices, and wine for guests. Lace heard me praising Monteith's Black Ale, and six pack was in the fridge that evening.

Lake Wakatipu couldn't have a more stunning showcase than their panoramic living room.

These hosts are well-connected with the local restaurant owners and got us into two nice places on short notice.

But, most importantly, they greeted us and wanted to hear about our day and made us feel at home.

Yes, the facilities are great, there's lots of great places in Queenstown, but Evergreen Lodge us home. We'll be back.

This is a wonderful find.Lace and Cindi are really very good hosts, they make you feel incredibly welcome, without being over-the-top. Lovely room with superb views over the lake and mountains. They have a small gym and sauna, as well as free to use laundry - very useful when you are doing a lot of travelling. Breakfast was excellent, free wifi - really could not fault this place at all. Lace's recommendations for dinner were very good, and they were happy to organise any taxis or trips. On top of all this, they are both really good company. Finally, having left my washing in the washer during the day, I returned back to find it all dried and folded in my room. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Seems all the rooms have fabulous views. I think some have patios, we didn't but easy access to...

Firstly, Lace and Cindi are the best hosts you can wish for. Secondly, the property is superb. A very warm welcome on arrival is matched by the quality of the rooms and the joint facilities. Our room was huge and had a fantastic view out over the lake and mountain. King sized bed and spotlessly clean mega-bathroom. We sat on our balcony watching the vintage steam driven paddle steamer sailing down the lake while drinking the complimentary wine and beer . Be prepared for breakfast with Lace and Cindi's hospitality. Breakfast will keep you going all day. Cindy makes home made muffins and even served her own home made bacon - you have to try this if its offered - its fantastic. (We took the recipe). During the day everything in the superbly stocked kitchen is to share - all kinds of tea and coffee, the fruit, the muffins, the fridge full of wines and beers.
I ticked a 5* Spa but the property doesn't have a spa it has a fully fitted gym which we made full use of and I give it 5 stars.
Great local advice and Lace and Cindi will book everything for you. They will even get up at 6 am if you have an early start. Truly wonderful Five Star Lodge and even more wonderful people.

Room Tip: Overlook the lake and mountain - view to die for.

This large yet intimate alpine-esque lodge lies tucked away in Queenstown suburbia with unrivalled views over the lake. From the minute you step onto the premises you cannot help but be impressed by the hosts conscientious and helpful approach as well as their delicious home baked goodies which are left in the kitchen -along with complimentary wine, beer and champagne - for guests to enjoy whenever they choose. The breakfasts were good, with delicious home baked 'healthy' muffins and a few hot items to choose from, although the best thing about this meal time was getting to know the hosts and learning about the local area - the open plan kitchen leant itself to this perfectly. We also received an upgrade to our original room request on arrival as it was our honeymoon which was a nice touch and made our stay all the more special.

The only slight wrinkle was the price - we stayed at a number of places during our time in New Zealand and some that were half the price of Evergreen were almost as nice (although no where could beat the view). However, with Queenstown being such a popular place for tourists to visit, quality is going to come at a premium and we certainly can't say we were disappointed as we left feeling like we had found a real gem.

Overall, if you're looking for a special place to stay in Queenstown with magical views of the lake and the kind of care and attention that a leading hotel would be unable to match, then Evergreen Lodge should be on your list.

Lace and Cyndi worked very hard to make my wife and I feel at home. Evergreen Lodge is located in a spectacular spot, just a five minute drive away from downtown Queenstown. This was our last destination in New Zealand and we both agreed that it was our favorite. The lodge was helpful in giving us advice on local attractions as well as helping us with anything and everything we needed like taxi services or other requests. Our stay here was during Christmas and we loved how welcome we felt here. Great place to stay in this amazing city of Queenstown!

I cannot begin to explain the delightful time we had staying at the Evergreen Lodge. Hosts, Lace and Cyndi make you feel right at home. The rooms are incredibly large and spacious and there is an amazing view from every window. Every morning we were woken up to a gourmet breakfast (made to order) followed by great trips of activities to do in beautiful Queenstown. Hiking is right outside the door, and skydiving is a MUST. Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality - we will definitely return!

Room Tip: I would recommend the Wha or Toru rooms. Sunrises are amazing. They have a lovely deck out back to e...

My husband surprised me for my birthday, with a 5 day stay at the Evergreen Lodge, which was the perfect location for a relaxing holiday, with plenty of activity options. Lace and Cindy made our stay really special with plenty of insider tips on where to eat, and with a different breakfast option every day, ranging from healthy but delicious oatmeal blueberry muffins, to gruyere and mushroom quiche, plus bacon and eggs! They even gave me a birthday surprise or two, which was really special.

With the beautiful view of the lake and mountains from the communal living room and our suite, I spent a couple of days relaxing there, making full use of the sauna, bath and in-room drinks options (including lemon and honey!), which was just the tonic I needed.

Room Tip: We had a room with a view which was awesome.
