“great weekend away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013 via mobile

Stayed for a weekend with my boyfriend after getting an online deal. Had a fantastic time.

The best part of th hotel was the staff and service. Every one of them was friendly and helpful.

The hotel has good facilities like the spa room which were very quiet so it felt like they were almost private. We also enjoyed the spa bath in our room.

Views were amazing and a highlight of this place. Our deal came with breakfasts and one dinner which was well cooked and presented.

Only down was it is a little run down.

However i would still recommend :-)

We got a pretty good Grabone deal to stay at Distinction Queenstown - and our stay here was definitely a highlight of our weekend escape to Queenstown!!

Firstly, the location over looking the Shotover river is AMAZING. Sitting out on our balcony watching the Shotover Jets race by was amazing. Can imagine how amazing the valley would look with some snow on it. We didn't find the drive to Queenstown too bad - but you definitely need a car if you are going to stay here.

The rooms were a little dated - but couldn't really fault them. Beds were comfort. It was clean. Had all the essentials. I'm sure they will eventually be renovated.

The Staff were definitely a highlight - always genuinely friendly & willing to help you enjoy your stay at Nugget Point & in Queenstown. We used their advice quite a lot the three days we were staying at Distinction. My iPhone charger wouldn't work, and they were helpful enough to locate a spare one in lost property to keep me going while I stayed there. Small gestures like that are appreciated.

Our breakfast one of the mornings they got our meal wrong, but it was quickly fixed with the Omelette arriving about 5 minutes later. The restaurant had amazing food - top service by our waiter - we really couldn't fault the food.

The Spa facility was good to just unwind after a nice meal & days exploring Central Otago. The Gym had plenty of equipment. Squash courts were very good also. Pity we didn't get to use the cinema, but the staff lent us a DVD for their well stocked collection.

I would like to thank you for having us stay at your wonderful property!! Hopefully we will be back soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mountain View rooms - they have an amazing view - the garden view looked pretty ave...

We recently booked a 2 night stay at this hotel to celebrate my 50th birthday. It turned out to be an inspired choice of a hotel. It was out of Queenstown so was quiet, had a great spa/pool etc and a gym. We only had breakfast in the hotel as we were out but the meal was very well presented and the person serving us (who's name escapes me but she was from oversea and her name started with A!) was very helpful and friendly as was the manager.

Great place to stay - would stay here again. Good work!

Out of town, 5 minutes from Queenstown, but that means fantastic view and very quiet.

Huge room, with good facilities, free internet, friendly staff, good bed and good nights sleep. What more could you want?

Stunning Beautiful views .
A complex & bizarre mixture of interior styles.
Restaurant food was definitely only average , although the staff were helpful .
Spa ....mmmmm.....jacuzzi now only a hot bath, steam room , sauna & showers good, decor completely OTT.........
Needs money spent on it all to restore.

We stayed here in December, our room was a river view suite with a lovely view of the Shotover valley. The room was comfortable, but quite shabby and in need of a good clean and revamp. The hotel's website states that the patio is private, but we had people talking loudly and walking up and down onto our patio, past our room most of the time. We decided not to dine in the hotel, as it looked so run down.

Usually, when I look at photos of hotel facilities, I always wonder if the place really looks *that* great ... or they just hired a very clever photographer. In the case of Nugget Point, all that glitters truly is gold. From the tasteful interiors ... to the grand views of the surrounding mountains ... to the flower mosaics on the floors and walls of the spa ... We were truly impressed. The food was excellent and the staff was attentive. True, it isn't right in town, but that was a plus for us. The minutes-long drive to Queenstown wasn't an issue. We wanted to explore the surrounding area, so this made a great home-base. We came back early enough to enjoy the sauna, steam-room, pool and spa while watching the sun set over the mountains. This is the perfect place to escape the tourist bustle and unwind.

Room Tip: The river-view rooms are a must.
