Wow, where to start? First, the kind staff introduced themselves and lead us to our room. What a room, i was with my parents and had my own room separated from the main one, as did my folks. We spent nights watching films we rented from the main desk on the nice Plasma. Before dinner we would have a drink at the bar at the hotel and admire the sunset and the great views of the mountains. We met the main staff of 3, Michael (bartender, waiter, bag man etc.), Helen (receptionist) and Barry (helicopter pilot and owner) all three of them made the stay incredible. They helped us book and find interesting things in town and showed us incredible hiking trails around the hotel. The night we dined in was the best in Queenstown. The food was perfect and the wide selection of local beers and wines made the meal amazing. It was the most memorable place we stayed during our travels in New Zealand and it was all thanks to Barry, Michael and Helen.

“One of the best in New Zealand”

Nugget Point Boutique Hotel

Mar 24, 2008

This small hotel is certainly one of the best in New Zealand. It has all the facilities for a discerning traveller, very hospitable owners and staff and, if you get a room overlooking the Shotover River, one of the best hotel views anywhere. It may not be in the centre of Queenstown but it is very close. Also, if you need a more relaxed and comfortable vacation, this is far better than being on the lakeside with all the traffic and buzz.
Personal service is important here, reflecting an Asian influence that also pervades through the decor and furnishings. This is fusion of styles akin to fusion of tastes in the culinary world and, in our view, it worked very well. If we go back to Queenstown and the hotel is still independently run by the present owners, then we will definitely stay here again

We just returned from 4 nights at Nugget Point. Beautiful little hotel. Very nice bed linens and towels. Very well kept. Dinner was our best in Queenstown. Fresh salad from the garden! Great gym. Lovely garden. Great view of Shotover River.

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in every aspect”

Nugget Point Boutique Hotel

From the moment we drove onto the property we were thrilled with out choice to stay at The Nugget Point. We were greeted very warmly by the staff as if we had known them for years. Graham and Helen seemed as if they had been waiting eagerly for our arrival and Barry immediately made us feel welcome. Dinner the first night was delicious and quite romantic as we were served drinks on the veranda, then watched the sun set followed by the stars blazing in the sky right before our eyes. The views surrounding the hotel, whether from our balcony or the dining room, were spectacular! Helen arranged our helicopter tour to Milford Sound and the pilot even caught crayfish for us which Selena cooked for our amazing dinner that evening. The food served to us throughout our stay was delicious, fresh and prepared with flair. Barry was extremely knowledgeable when it came to selecting our wine for dinner. Selena had wonderful suggestions for touring the area while Helen had a thorough grasp on what activities we were seeking. We enjoyed the privacy that we were seeking at the resort yet enjoyed speaking with everyone who was employed by Nugget Point. Our room was spacious, clean, luxurious and had a view over the Shotover River that was spectacular. Viewing the stars on our balcony each evening was an added bonus. The flower gardens are beautifully cared for by Selena and her love for them is evident. This hotel is a very intimate experience and we highly recommend a stay here.

We had such a warm welcome at the hotel, whose charming, friendly staff took such good care of us, it was like going to stay with old friends. The property is decorated in great style, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Our room overlooked the Shotover River. The views from the balcony of our room were simply breathtaking. The only meals we ate at the hotel were breakfast, which was excellent. We will definitely go back, and would recommend it highly to others.
