We booked Copthorne when we went to Queenstown in July for the Winterfest. We got a lakeview room, which is probably the only room worth getting, because other rooms seem to look into other parts of the hotel. We were not looking to spend a fortune, we were looking for comfy beds, reasonable facilities and that is what we got at the hotel, plus the gorgeous view, so quite satisfied with Copthorne. I wouldn't recommend this for elderly travellers though, a lot of hill climbing as the hotel is up on a bit of a hill. But otherwise, would I stay there again? Depends on how cashed up I was.

We took advantage of an autumn promotion called 'True Colours' which was great value. For $NZ149 per night we were given a Superior Lakeview room plus full buffet breakfast for two. From our spacious room, we enjoyed lovely views over the lake and mountains. The bed was comfortable and there were two arm chairs to sit in while enjoying the view through the large window. The buffet breakfast was fine and we enjoyed a nice evening meal in the restaurant one night. Queenstown Gardens are a pleasant few minutes walk down the hill as is the town with its many shops and restaurants. We had no complaints with the Copthorne and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“Great value for money”

Copthorne Hotel and Resort Queenstown Lakefront

May 3, 2008

We stayed in the Copthorne Lakefront Hotel last week- 25 April -1st May and were extremely happy with our experience. We paid an upgrade of $22 for a lake view and I guess we were upgraded to a suite- our room was beautiful. King size bed, spa bath beautiful living area and balcony facing lake as well as extra toilet. All for $127NZ per night.

The service was great-we only had one breakfast in restaurant which was the standard really for that type of hotel. We did find the restaurant a little cold. More heating there would be a good thing.
We ordered room service breakfast one morning and that was great.
We used the bar one night- good pices on cocktails and snacks were good standard.
The staff were very friendly and we found the service to be professional.

The standard of cleaning in our suite was of very high standard.

After staying in a so called 5 star hotel in Sydney this was so much better by comparison. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.
The location was great- just a few minutes walk to main centre, which is down a little hill, but we are talking mountain area.

The views were magnificent and Queenstown has lots to do.

“Nice Hotel, Good Location, Lots of walking”

Copthorne Hotel and Resort Queenstown Lakefront

We stayed at the Copthorne Resort Lakefront for 3 days in a Superior Lakeview Room. Getting to the room from the lobby was an adventure in itself! we were in room 1353 and to get there from the lobby you had to walk down a hallway to an elevator in Building 1, go down to 3rd floor (Lobby is on 5th floor.. go figure), walk another length of hallway.. turn right and walk down still another hallway to our room. The view of the lake though was worth it. We had a nice view out of the room of the lake.

The room we were in did not have an air conditioner but thankfully we did not need it as the windows would open wide and let the cool air in off the lake.

The staff went above and beyond to accomidate us in making plans for dinner, calling a taxi, calling and confirming our tours, etc. Everything we needed was taken care of instantly! Once they found out what our plans would be, they gave us coupons for money off the venues we were going.

The Hotel is located on top of a steep hill from downtown and is only a 5 minute walk to downtown. If you go through the park it is not as steep a grade than the road.

If you like to get a bit of exercise when staying at a hotel then this is the perfect place to stay. Lots of lovely walks thru the park is only a few minutes away and you can walk around the lake on the loop trail.

“A good basic hotel”

We stayed here 4 nights. We paid for a lakeview and we were glad we did as lots of the other rooms appeared to have views of other rooms!

The room, although needing a bit of tlc, was comfortable and had good amenities.

Breakfast was standard for this type of hotel.

It rained one night so we decided to eat in - big mistake!

There were around a dozen people eating and the Manager was heard to complain that he was run off his feet! Service was extremely slow (a common thread we found in Copthorne Hotels). One of the waiters had a serious b.o. problem which put us off our food a bit! We ate out regardless of the weather after that!

We also noticed at breakfast that when trays of food were running low e.g. bacon and eggs, they were topped up with fresh on top of the old, instead of the trays being replaced. We mentioned this in our questionnaire when we left.

A good place to stay if you book a lakeview room. Close to the amenities of Queenstown but the hill could be a problem for some people. An ok hotel for the price.
