The room was about average in size, but very clean and had great views. There was a TV, DVD player and a fridge. There were also plates and glasses if you want to bring in takeaway from nearby restaurants.

Biggest convenience here for us was the location. Just a short walk down the steps across the street to the main part of Queenstown with tons of restaurants and activities. It's also just a few blocks from the base of the Skyline gondola.

Staff:
Very friendly folks here. Our first day was a rainy one, and we were given plenty of suggestions for rainy day activities. The day we left, we were set up with a shuttle to the airport and it was billed to our room in our home currency (US dollars).

Internet:
There is a PC avaiable downstairs, but we brought our own laptop and the wireless here wasn't very good. There were cards avaiable for 24 hours of wireless internet for $15 NZD, but the connections were extremely slow and unreliable. We were able to send emails and post a few pictures, but I woudln't rely on this for voice confernecing like Skype.

Other amenities:
A guest laundry is avaiable, but we didn't wind up using it. There are also kitchen facilities, but we never used those either since we were so close to great restaurants and takeaway places.

One note:
It looks like there's some construction going on across the street. We never heard anything and it didn't bother us at all, but I'm wondering if once it's done it will block the view of the rooms on the lower floor.

We paid $155 NZD for a room with a view of Lake Wakatipu. This location was just excellent to get to the downtown of Queenstown and also the Gondola, both 5 minutes walk from the front door. They only clean and refresh towels every other day in order to protect the environment, but will give you fresh towels if you go to the front desk.
We enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet outside and we slept well.

“Reasonable; decent place to stay”

Lomond Lodge

We opted for the budget option in Queenstown and were perfectly content with the outcome. The view is indeed nice from the motel; however, as others have noted - a construction project is in the works across the street - which detracts from most photo opportunities. We were also awoken by revellers late at night, but it was brief.

The room was comfortable, the bed was nice, and the staff was very friendly. It was a very short walk to the city centre and harbor area - plus the gondola was a short distance away.

If in Queenstown again, I would consider the Lomond for a repeat visit; however, I might inquire about the construction project first.

Tips: Queenstown was the only location during our travels where I felt as though people were overly anxious to free us of our money - especially at the restaurants directly on the water. The view was decent and the people watching was enjoyable - but next time I would consider a restaurant with a bit more charm off the lakefront.

The best thing about our room was the breath taking views of The Remarkables.

The room itself was of a fairly good standard, if not a bit small. The bathroom was modern and clean. The room had good heating and a comfortable bed.

The location was perfect, just a quick walk to the main st.

Overall a good place to stay, with everything you would need. Would probably consider different accommodation if we stayed longer than 2 nights, as we felt a bit cramped.

Reading other reviews - the construction was finished when we stayed, and there is no obstruction of view - they were building a car park which doesn't go more than one story above the ground.
