I'm not really sure why this hotel gets such good reviews. We stayed for four nights in a standard hotel room. This was the most expensive hotel or motel that we stayed in while in New Zealand but I don't see how the hotel justifies this type of price as there's nothing great about it and in fact it had less facilities than we had in other places.
The rooms in the hotel are nice and modern. Fairly standard hotel room, nothing special. One annoying thing was that the room wasn't serviced. We were there for 4 nights and it wasn't cleaned at all. No kitchenette so we couldn't make our own meals.
The staff were helpful but reception operated strange hours and I think it closed at 6 or 7.
We thought that the location was poor. It's a 10 minute drive into Queenstown. No way you'd walk it in any reasonable time. In fact, there's nothing of any interest within walking distance of the place. It is set on a lake but our room didn't have any views of it. If you're looking to be close to Queenstown don't stay here.
Overall, I don't think the hotel justifies the price charged. If it was cheaper I would rate it higher as the location is really the only major fault. However, in comparison to other places that we stayed on our trip which were less expensive and had much better facilities and were much closer to town, this came no where close.
