“Great place to stay in Queenstown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

This was our second trip to Queenstown and staying with Alex. We stayed in the Weir Apartment on our first trip and Alex made us more than comfortable. Coming back to Queenstown again we had to stay in the main house (Daniels apartment) and we had a lovely time. Serviced every day, anything we needed was taken care of straight away. Great location close to town but lovely and quite and a great hot tub. Thank you Alex for a lovely stay, we will be sure to come back again.

We spent three nights here while exploring Queenstown's sights and scene. Close to the hub but at the top of a hill so you're out of the hub-bub. Alex was easy to get hold of when we needed to, otherwise, we were on our own to enjoy the private elevated apartment and it's great kitchen, comfy bed, and spacious living room. A lovely small deck affords welcome breezes and a slice of view. Lots of light and bright. Recommended.

For a self catering boutique apartment, we were delighted. The building has character and is beautifully furnished with modern yet country classic style. Think the total opposite of chintz! We stayed for 2 nights in the one bedroom apartment at the top. The little decking area outside and lounge had great views over the mountain and gondola, and the whole apartment was airy and filled with natural light. Lovely thick thread count bedding, super clean bathroom and well appointed kitchen.

Location is superb....5 minutes easy stroll (very downhill!) into heart of the town by the lakeside... although it takes a tad longer to get back!

The owners were friendly, very helpful and flexible.

Exceeded our expectations for the price, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The apartment is spacious. With a comfortable living room, kitchen with almost everything, free wifi. We spent a wonderful night there before heading to Fox Glacier. An easy short walk to town centre where we had a wonderful dinner, supermarket, and the skyline. The bedroom is very comfortable and at the right temperature for a good night sleep.

Yet, if you are not fit enough to walk up a steep slope, you should think twice coz it takes you a short steep walk up to the Historic Stone Apartment from the town center. Lastly, the host Alex is very helpful. We had to join a segway tour before check out. We asked Alex what we can do and he had us left our luggage in the apartment and he helped us to keep it in his other B&B so that we can pick them up after our tour. Really helped to make our tour hassle-free. Thank you Alex.

We stayed in the smaller apartment at the end. The jacuzzi was beautiful. Loved soaking in it while it rained, beautiful warm jets....that was nice. Alex, the host, was amazing. He knew the area well and had some great suggestions. I would definitely stay there again. There were two negatives. There is a steep hill to walk down to get to the town centre. Not too bad but if your not fit, forget it. Also, the roof leaked one night. Other than that - all good.

Our visit to Queenstown was made all the more memorable by our stay at Historic Stone House. After a hard day on the slopes, there's nothing better than returning to a warm, cosy and tidy apartment - just like coming home.
