“Lovely luxury hotel with great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Spent three nights here in what was our last leg of a 2 week trip in NZ in early Jan 2015.

We had a lake view room that was nice and spacious with a balcony that overlooked the lake and was perfect for chilling out. Fortunate to get gorgeous views of sunrise and sunset from the balcony. (Will post pics as well)

The bathroom was nice and big as well. We had a rental car and parking was available at the 3rd level. Had the occasional time when we had to search for a spot but was relatively easy to find parking.

Going to town was possible by the following
1. Driving using your own car
2. Hotel shuttle - used this a couple of times when we had activities planned (bungy, river rafting) and was very convenient
3. Walking along the trail that runs along the river. We were told by the desk that it was 25mins but it's definitely a LOT longer than that and we are quite fit walking at a brisk pace! Took us an hour but it was a lovely walk.

I would have liked the hotel to have a fan or AC as it could get quite hot and wasn't sure of the rationale of not having that in a room. Also since these are advertised as apartments having a toaster and the like would have really helped.

We didn't get a chance to eat at the hotel or sample the wine there but it looked pretty good.

Please note that the property is not in the city center so plan your trip accordingly.

We had a good time here and I'd def recommend it to other travelers.

Good hotel, bedrooms are OK and staff are excellent, really helpful team about arranging booking, Shuttle only hourly into town which is seems slightly strange given size of hotel - only 12 seats an hour. Bedroom layout is OK but if 2 bed apartment, second bedroom is really poor in comparison and has a window on to the corridor you cant close. Super small restaurant - again breakfast was so so for a good hotel. The living room for apartments is great. Some rooms blighted by road to car park sweeping past the window.

I was thoroughly disappointed with Rees apartments in queenstown. The reception area has a bar that doubles up as a restaurant in the day time as there are no other restaurants.the room smelt, had cobwebs in the roof that stuck out of the window before one can get a lake view...There is no provision for air conditioniners in the rooms..The parking allotment was random and so if you turn up late keep going in circles due to no space.at breakfast service was slow and spread was
average...All in all the luxury element was found only in the jacuzzi in the bathrooms . One doesn't get much value for money here.

My family went to the South Island of New Zealand for holiday and the first place we stayed at was The Rees. It was our favorite accommodation during our whole trip. We stayed at the 3-bedroom apartment which was fully furnished with high-quality furnitures, comfortable beds and an electric fireplace. The living room led to a huge balcony overlooking the lake and mountains. The view was like a postcard, picture perfect. It was only a 5-minute drive from the Rees to the centre of Queenstown so it was convenient for us to drive down, buy ourselves some burgers from the famous Fergburger and went back to eat them at our balcony while enjoying the view. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when I'm back in Queenstown!

We loved this hotel. The room was fantastic with very high grade finish and the best balcony around. We overlooked the lake and mountains and had massive sliding glass doors that opened the apartment to the entire balcony. You have to take a cab or shuttle to town, but is is worth it to stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff are great as well. 1st class.

Room Tip: Be sure to get as high as possible and the best rooms are on the west end of the hotel. No matter w...

Beautiful hotel and rooms. Fantastic views of the lake from the room. Delicious salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast in the dining room. The staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Courtesy bus into town very useful

This was one of our favorite places to stay in New Zealand! The view was spectacular! A convenient walk along the lake into Queenstown via a path or you could rent bikes for a family bike ride. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we took full advantage of the in room washer and dryer. Wifi was free for the entire family which is something we did not find much of traveling around NZ. We arrived to a bouquet of flowers on the table and the fireplace was a great touch! The kids enjoyed the many TV programs and movies offered as well for some down time. The staff was extra friendly and helpful. The free shuttle into Queenstown was convenient and used quite a bit as well. We would definitely stay here again!!

Room Tip: Request a room with the lakeside view!!
