“Excellent accommodation, views, staff, food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

This was the final hotel that we stayed in during our holiday in New Zealand and it couldn't have been better. The design of the hotel is excellent, the room was well designed and the views amazing. The hotel offers a complimentary coach to and from town every hour and if it is full it returns to pick up any additional guests. The wifi is complimentary, which is a small thing but something that should be offered in all hotels. The restaurant was small but the food amazing both at breakfast and in the evening which was fine dining. The staff could not do enough for us and arranged all of our excursions, rearranging them for us when the low clouds put them on hold. Definitely the place to stay in Queens-town.

Room Tip: Book a lake view for the amazing views

We arrive early on a Tuesday and our room was ready for us. The room is very modern with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The views of the lake are breath taking. The Rees is just a 10-15 min drive from the town center. They also provide a van to taxi you to town with pick up as well. I would highly recommend this hotel. The service was top notch.

The views from our room were wonderful, across the lake to mountains beyond. The walk along the lake to town was lovely, took around 20-30 minutes and was so super that we didn't use the free shuttle at all. Room was great too, lovely linens and products. Staff were incredibly helpful, with Mel the concierge confirming our previous bookings of activities. We stupidly left some things in a drawer and the staff happily posted these on to one of our later stops for us. This was our first stop in NZ and we arrived at around 10am after an extremely long flight from UK. It would have been nice to have got into our room earlier than the 3pm check in time, but there was no way the policy was going to be changed. This was the only downside to an otherwise exceptionally good stay.

We were on the 7th floor which is actually ground level and our suite was fantastic! The view is incredible! Clean, very nice fittings, good products but have I mentioned the view?

The restaurant is also wonderful!

Room Tip: Stay here, you will be glad you did.

The Rees Hotel is nicely situated with good views of the lake. As it is situated a ways from the CBD in Queenstown it is quiet. The property offers a shuttle to town and there is a bike/walk trail along the lake. The rooms are modern and comfortable. There are electric shades that take a little detective work to figure out how to raise and lower them - tip: the switch is on the wall and you twist all the way to the left to lower and all the way to the right to raise.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is covered parking is below the rooms with a driveway that is a little tight and sight lines that demand you take the trip slowly.

We had a great 3 nights at the property and found the beds, linens and towels to be of high quality and very comfortable. The public areas are well done. They have a guest laundry room which sees quite a bit of use - sometimes a little difficult to get there when the washer and dryer are not in use.

The hotel has dramatic views of the lake and mountains surrounding Q'town. The apartments are luxurious and have great kitchen facilities. The hotel has an hourly shuttle to town that is very convenient.

Mel the concierge is top rate! She organized our entire week with the best activities the area has to offer - a flight/cruise to Milford Sound, Dart River Jetboat, Ziptrek, Bungy and on and on. And we loved everything she recommended!

The kids loved the location and ample space in our 2 bedroom apartment. Great place - highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Take the 2 bedroom executive apartment if you can afford the extra 50 bucks since it has 2 bathrooms...

After finishing the three-day Routeburn trek walk, this was a much-welcome respite that exceeded all of our expectations spectacularly.

Situated on the spectacular Lake Wakatipu, with views extending to the Remarkables mountain range, our room (which was more like a small apartment) was extensively equipped and extremely comfortable. The furnishings were tasteful and discrete, the room service was prompt and delicious.

Please note that the hotel is somewhat out of town - they provide a complimentary shuttle service, which is convenient and gets you into town in under ten minutes. However, we'd recommend you spend some time staying closer to the centre of the action - there's lots to see in Queenstown, and this might not be the best base for your first few nights. For a real treat at the end of your stay, this place is without compare.
