“Very nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

Check in was quick and efficient. We parked the car and they showed us our room. Unfortunately the room was not OK for us so we asked if we could switch which was done quick and without any problems. The room itself was nice. A balcony towards the lake and a nice, big bathroom have been part of the room.
The bed was the only problem we had. It was not a king size bed, it was two single beds pushed together which is difficult to sleep in as a couple as you have the hard middle part.

My husband and I spent an awesome weekend at the Rees,as winners of an Australasian wide competition, and from the moment we arrived were treated magnificently by all the staff. We had a superb meal at the resturant,I enjoyed a Pedicure and a Massage as part of my win and these were both very relaxing and enjoyable. Our appartment was very well appointed, had gorgeous views, and everything was very comfortable. We loved the whole stay here and would recommend to anyone wanting a stay in luxurious surroundings.

Room Tip: All rooms have amazing views of The Remarkables and the lake.

The setting is spectacular with the views across the lake, the staff is exceptionally helpful from the front desk to the concierge to the restaurant, and the food in the restaurant was the best we had on our our three weeks vacation. Our two bedroom apartment was modern and extremely well appointed with top quality bedding, and clean. I think the shower was possibly the best in New Zealand. We especially loved the fireplace and heated floors in the bathrooms. For us it was centrally located to town and to all the ski areas. Some might find it a little too far from the city center, but we liked it that way, and the hotel provides an hourly shuttle.

For the price, however, you expect a flawless experience. The weakest part of Rees is what they call "the spa." To get to the spa, my wife and daughter had to walk through the parking garage to what turned out to be just another one of the apartments converted to a massage room. There is no real spa, no sauna, hot tub, or any other kind of water feature. Only a couple of tables set up in what would have been bedrooms. The staff was very nice and did a great job on the treatments. Also, unfortunately the heated floor in the main part of our apartment was broken and was never repaired during our stay.

But in the end, would we go back? Absolutely.

Stayed at the Rees again for a ski holiday. It's got the most amazing views of the lake and The Remarkables, especially of an afternoon. Service and staff are very friendly and considerate.
It's also one of the only hotels in town with a heated driveway meaning you can get a safe early departure to the ski fields and you don't have to risk damaging your car or spend an hour dicing your car.

The beds and pillows are the best we have ever had anywhere. And the cleanliness is as you would expect in a 5 star, perfect.

We would easily recommend this luxury acom to anyone without any hesitation. The free shuttle is also avail to town, and their are regular buses past the door day and night if you want to have a few drinks with dinner. A taxi to or from town is less then $10

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room on level 4, to be away from Frankton road, to be close to the car, and have...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was fantastic. Large, with great views of mountains and lake, kitchen was well equipped, laundry etc.
The staff were very helpful, service was excellent.

Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

My daughter and I fell in love with The Rees when we checked in with Ben at the front desk. He not only checked us in, but he took us to our third-floor room and showed us how everything worked. Then he told us about the beautiful scenery out our window and a short history of Mr. Rees. Then he told us about all the transportation options to town (we did not have a car). Turns out Ben was driving the shuttle in the next few minutes, so we hopped on it and took the short ride into town.

Our Executive Lake View hotel accommodations were really outstanding. It appears that each room is built so nothing hinders its view of the Remarkables and the lake. The view could not have been more spectacular, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom quite spacious. They even included a little box in the bathroom with all sorts of supplies, including a razor and cream. We stayed in the winter, and did not have a fireplace in the room as some apartments have, but we were still comfortable. It was unbelievably quiet. I never heard anyone outside or through the walls. (One morning we happened to be up at sunrise, which was an incredible site over the lake and mountains. If you stay here, you must try to catch it.)

The two cons, although minor and not enough to lower my rating, were the internet and food. I couldn't get the internet to work very well, but then I had trouble with all free internet connections during our two weeks in New Zealand. The room service food we ordered was delicious, except for my daughter's wrap, which was slightly burned. We found the breakfasts quite good with a lot of variety on the continental selections. We did not order off the menu the two mornings we were there.

I am miffed by the comments by other reviewers about the transportation into town. The schedule is located a couple places in the room and on the jacket with your key. The hotel's shuttle ran three times in the morning and several times in the afternoon and evening, and the pick up in town is a central location. We caught it easily one night at 9 in town. If you miss it, a taxi is fairly easy to catch and not that expensive, or there is a pretty walk along the lake. A water taxi is also available, but it seemed too cold for that.

When we checked out, Ben was helping someone else, but remembered us and asked us about our stay. We really wished we could have stayed longer. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay there again, if I ever have the opportunity to return to beautiful Queenstown. It was, by far, our favorite hotel on our New Zealand trip.
