“Stunning milford sound”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014

Milford sound is rated as one of the most beautiful places on earth. We took the trip by mitre peak co as this company has a smaller cruise ship which means it can go really close to the wildlife and into the waterfalls. The trip is a full day excursion starting from queenstown early at 6:45 am through te anu into the amazing fiordland. The stops on the way are superb and our driver was very informative throughout. Milford is considered even more scenic on a rainy day, we got extremely lucky by getting rain on the drive and it stopped to rain just as we entered the cruise which meant the waterfalls were at their best and we had amazing visibility and could stand outside on the viewing deck. So if you are in queenstown for a few days, check the weather forecast and keep milford for a rainy day and do the other activities while sunny. Don't forget your camera!

Hello there!
Thank you for writing a lovely review about your experience. The coach trip from Queenstown is an early start which means for a big day, but it is totally worth it! The rain brings Milford Sound to life and this generates thousands of waterfalls to cascade down the mountain side, it is completely stunning. Your comments will be passed on to the staff. The team in Milford are very glad to hear you enjoyed your tour to/around/in Milford and we hope to see you again in the future. Take care with future travels
Kind Regards, the team at Mitre Peak Cruises.

“Small is the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2014

Whilst the Mitre Peak boats are considerably smaller than some of their larger rivals, the boat size means less people and you get a greater more intimate feel for this outstanding location.

We were extremely lucky that having opted for the last cruise of the day, the weather was good for the whole duration of the voyage even though it closed in for the journey home.

Would definitely recommend this tour option.

Thank you for taking time to tell us about your experience with Mitre Peak Cruises.
It is certainly nicer with a smaller boat which can get you really close and has less people than the larger boats.
It was also good that the weather was kind to you for the cruise. Thanks again from the team at Mitre Peak Cruises.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Mitre Peak Cruises, Milford Sound,N.Z. - This cruise was the highlight of our 2 weeks in New Zealand. We made the 9:00am boat so there were no crowds. This smaller boat can hug the shoreline really close. We were maybe 10 feet from seals and felt the spray from falling waterfalls. It had been raining and there were 100s of waterfalls. The scenery was spectacular. Eric, our guide, was very knowledgable and encouraged us to ask questions. This cruise was well worth the money and the 2 hour drive. This is a must do that should go on everyones bucket list.

“Great cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

We really enjoyed our cruise in Milford Sound in this smaller boat. It allowed for a more intimate and up-close view of the sound. Given its size it was definitely not cramped, and we could interact with the other passengers. We also went to the underwater observatory and loved it!
