We chose the early trip, which leaves Queenstown at 6.30 am.Given the early hour it was a shame the bus doesn't collect you from your accommodation but from prearranged bus stops. This must be awkward in winter or in bad weather. We were lucky to have had terrific weather. Was also pleased that the bus had a glass roof. The driver, Kevin, was a nice guy and did take good care of us.He was also able to recommend some great pies in Te Anau. However the commentary was desultory and the sound system for the video played on the return journey was somewhat lacking, making it hard to follow the movie.Towards the end I couldn't wait for it to be all over. having said that, though, the cruise itself was magic. because we left early, it seemed like we had the Sound to ourselves. Mitre had one of the smallest boats in the harbour that morning, so we had a comfortable number of people on board and the captain was able to manoeuvre the boat right up to one waterfall and under another. It was simply exhilarating. This would have been a five-star review if not for the endurance test that was the bus ride.

Thanks for your feedback, it’s always great to hear from our passengers and we are glad that you enjoyed the cruise with us on Milford Sound. We do have the smallest boats in Milford which allows for a great experience with an ‘up close and personal’ feel. We have passed on your feedback to our coach company, unfortunately we cannot pick up passengers from everywhere in Queenstown due to the size of the bus and for safety reasons. We do however use taxis for hotels that are a distance away from the pickup points. Thanks again for your comments and I hope you enjoyed experiencing the rest of New Zealand.
