“Better than last year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2012

The room we had this year had just been updated and was really good (OK, it was good last year but it is better now). While a little out of town there are restaurants within walking distance and a couple of take aways very close.

And, although it looks to be on a main road, it is set back and there was no traffic noise.

Highly recommended.

We have been guests at Comfort Inn Tayesta every year for the past 4 years (sometimes twice a year- we live overseas). We are seasoned motel guests having stayed in dozens of New Zealand motels all over the country during the past 30 years, Comfort Inn Tayesta is up there with and in most cases above the most palatial and far more expensive motels. It meets all or requirements and in most cases exceeds our expectations every time we visit Invercargill.
Stewart and Diane never cease to amaze us with their innovative ideas they have implemented into their units. Fixtures and accessories are of top quality. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and most units have had extensive refurbishment in the past 12-18months.
We will continue to stay ay Comfort Inn Tayesta on our annual pilgrimage to New Zealand.

Room Tip: Have not found a room/unit that didn't meet our needs regardless of length of stay.

WOW! We have stayed here previously and always were impressed with the cleanliness and general standard of the rooms, this weekend we were back and were blown away! The rooms have undergone a stunning renovation and are amazing. The shower was hot with lots of pressure, great lighting throughout and so tasteful, and spotless! The Spa is always great too. But all of this is topped off with fantastic service from Stewart and Diane. Can't wait to go back (made the next reservation already) the Tayesta will have our custom every time we are in Invercargill without a doubt.

In town for family bereavement - very accommodating hosts, spotless rooms with kitchen, quiet & the best place we've stayed at including places in Oz. Will be returning in a year.

We enjoyed our one night in Invercargill at a basic, quiet and comfortable place where we could do our washing and get organised for the rest of our trip. The service here was excellent and very helpful and the laundry facilities included a washing line in the afternoon sun which so beats a dryer which was there for back up. The best part of visiting Invercargill is the local Art Gallery and Museum which includes an area dedicated to a breeding group of Tuatara - a rare and endangered small reptile which is as ancient as time.

Room Tip: this motel is set back from the main road so noise should not be an issue

Like a lot of folks we visited Invercargill because of its location not its charms. Driving through the city Centre I dispaired of finding anything inviting. Even Tayesta did not look much from the road as you approach through a narrow entrance. From the moment we entered reception my gloom lifted, A warm welcome, Free magazines to take with us when we left, free Wifi, given loads of info, even managed to make Invercargill sound exciting. The room was very clean and functional and the bathroom was acceptable. A nice breakfast tray was available. Its a bit out of town, 25 mins walk at least. I have no hesitation in recommending Tayesta

We struggled in Invercargill for upmarket hotels, so on the strength of tripadvisor reviews, we chose the Comfort Inn we really weren't expecting much. Despite the fact, we had a view of the wheelie bins and clothes line, the actual rooms were spotless. Bedroom with comfy bed and electric blanket, not a great deal of space but we were only there for 1 night. Dated furniture, tiny tv but it didn't matter as the place was so clean and well equipped. We ended up using the kitchen facilities and were pleased with all the utensils. Supermarket amd park nearby. Despite the fact, it was practically booked out, it was noise free and we couldn't hear the traffic, so all in all a rested stay. Stuart was able advise scenic routes for our next leg of the journey.
