Located in a strange pyramid-shaped building on the southern edge of Queens Park, the Southland Museum and Art Gallery was magnificent. There was an excellent range of displays, with each providing an interesting insight into a topic or subject without being cluttered or overdone. There was a nice range of traditional displays, information boards, exhibits and audio-visual displays. Entrance was free, with a donation box near the entrance.
With the I-Site Visitor Centre and the Pyramid on Gala café at the entrance, the Southland Museum and Art Gallery is the perfect place to spend an afternoon, guaranteeing some education, enjoyment and a nice snack afterwards!
