Our group (four adults) enjoyed the most exquisite meal here recently. Everything was fautless – from the attentive staff, service, food presentation, taste and ambience, to the interesting conversational surrounds (hundreds of teapots and other interesting objects). All served food gave the impression of having just been picked, harvested or caught – it was so fresh. Extensive menu to choose from incorporating many fish dishes. We tried from the blackboard menu flakey blue cod cakes, seafood chowder (mussels, prawns, clams and soft white fish) as entrees. For mains two ordered eye fillet steak (no large serated carving knives needed here!) and us ladies had the roasted chicken breast (wrapped in bacon, marinated in smoked paprika, creamed mussel sauce) – all served with side steamed and roasted dishes. All was so fresh and tender. Plenty of food, and on reflection we didn’t really need to order sides. Hardly any space left for desserts but we tried anyway- baked cheesecake, the almond/orange cake, all accompanied with soft sauces and the trio of ices We took BYO and there is a $10 corkage charge. Apparently no BYO for function groups or University graduation groups) Wine & beers are available on site. Entrees range in price from $13.50 to $20.50; Mains from $29.50 to $36.00 and desserts generally from $12.50 - $13.50. Good selection of coffees and teas also offered. Would we return here again? – most definitely, as one of the best restaurants in Dunedin.
