“Satisfactory but no wow factor...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We spent two nights at the Park Regis,we got good sleep, didn't have a chance to try hotel food, were disappointed by no in room mini bar when getting in late and wanting a snack.

Parking was a bit confusing and it would be better to have a valet.

In short a satisfactory but underwhelming stay.

This hotel has an amazing history and if you look at the amazing facade you'll realise it was one of the original buildings in Dunedin. As some of the reviews mention it is a bit of a rabbit warren and it's had a total revamp quite recently. We found it comfortable and quiet, clean rooms and every amenity you need. It was perfectly adequate for a one nighter and a quick walk to everywhere. The staff were very helpful and most obliging. They didn't tell us about the $50nz bond they put on our credit card as a security deposit. I know most hotels do this but please tell your customers that you're going to do that!
Upshot... Clean, reasonably priced accommodation... Adequate, centrally located.

What a shocker. Restaurant closed because they don't get enough people ( I wonder why)
Antiquated and shoddy and completely uncaring
Stay somewhere else if you want a pleasant experience
This place is NOT value for money and a disappointment on every level

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review of Park Regis Dunedin.
Regarding Relish Bar and Restaurant, we did indeed reduce our a la carte dining options with an extensive bar menu running in its place over our quieter period.
I can assure you that you will still have the opportunity to enjoy a hearty meal in our bar or your room each evening on a normal night before we re-open the restaurant for the full silver service dining experience as we enter the summer months.
I am disappointed to hear that you found the hotel to be "completely uncaring" as the staff have a lot of heart and do care deeply about our guests' satisfaction.
To address your point about the hotel not being value for money, you will be pleased to see that we have some excellent special room rates available at the moment especially on weekends and our prices are very competitive when compared to similar hotels in Dunedin.

I apologise for your disappointment with your stay and regret that I was not approached with the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your concerns whilst you were with us.

Kind Regards,

Sally O'Connor

The Park Regis on Princess Street used to be the Mercure and is a rabbit warren of corridors and rooms, I would hate to have to escape from it in an emergency. When I visited the lift was not working and I had to carry my bags up and down stairs. It was difficult to find my room! The hotel is at the wrong end of town with only one restaurant (Zucchini Brothers) near it and empty shops and derelict looking property around it. The hotel is ready for a complete makeover the carpets are threadbare (picture shows only one small area - the whole area is worn
The room was reasonable well equipped but no mini bar. The windows let in the cold and the noise of the street - 4:30am when the street cleaners and bin emptying machines went by.
The restaurant was not open and they were only offering a limited bar menu. Breakfast was a disaster, I ordered Bacon and Egg and it arrived stone cold (not even slightly warm). I think it had been frozen and partly microwaved - I sent it back and breakfasted elsewhere.
I could not recommend this hotel.
It was not surprising that the hotel appeared empty even though most of the motels and hotels in Dunedin had No Vacancy notices outside.
If you want to stay in Dunedin try the Scenic or the Kingsgate.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review of Park Regis Dunedin.
As you know we have corresponded regarding your stay following your comments and although you raise some valid concerns, I am aware that the main issue stems with your travel agent not having booked you into a hotel of your choosing in Dunedin.

Room on the 5th floor no view but was quiet light and airy. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of room.
Saturday night there wasn't a restaurant open in the hotel but heaps around the area. Staff were very good.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review of Park Regis Dunedin.
It is fantastic to hear that you found your room to be spacious, bright and comfortable.
Unfortunately our restaurant was indeed closed due to maintenance work for evening meals for a short time recently, however as you point out we are in close walking distance to the Octagon where a wide variety of dining options to suit everyone are available at your fingertips.
Thanks also for your kind comments about our staff, we aim to please and very much look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Dunedin.

Kind Regards,

Stayed here for two nights, really didn't enjoy our stay as rooms are really outdated and dark, plus we got a room looking into another room (interior courtyard) and all the pipes and stuff even though we had booked our room 6+ months in advance. Services at the hotel were really expensive. Room Services was super expensive and really bad. I would not recommend this hotel, there is a lot of better options in Dunedin.

Room Tip: Don't order room service, be aware there's a lot of stairs as some floors are in between ele...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review of Park Regis Dunedin.
It is regretful that you did not enjoy your stay, we do have many rooms with views and would have been delighted to move you to one of these had you advised us of your disappointment during your stay. The Reception team are very friendly and accommodating.
It is a shame that you did not enjoy your Room Service meal either and that all in all your stay appears to be a bit of a let down.
I will happily refund you for your meal if you would like to contact me direct on 03 477 1145, unless of course we already did this for you during your stay. We like to be responsive to any guest complaints and would be happy to do this as a gesture of goodwill.

Kind Regards,
