“Close to the Action, and Dry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

The wind can blow cold through the ventilation openings so warm clothes are essential, but the proximity to the players and the great lighting and atmosphere make this stadium a winner for sporting events. We haven't been to a concert, but have enjoyed rugby games, we are looking forward to seeing the All Blacks beat the Wallabies in October's Bledisloe Cup!

“Great for concerts and sports”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Have been to this stadium a few times now. Recommend if you are at a concert to be on the pitch as the sound system in the stands is not the best. You can usually hear the music not the lyrics unfortunately. Unless it is summer, make sure you wrap up warm as the wind can blow through the stadium and be very cold. Pleased there is a roof especially for the rugby games as it is so much more fun now watching the games under a roof. Certainly has a special atmosphere especially when the students are in the zoo, they are fantastic and certainly add to the atmosphere and entertainment.

“Sound Not Flash”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Excellent Stadium..easy access...great $200.00 seats...Perfect warmup bands...sound very very poor...please just stick to your silly old rugby games....not music....and yes we did wait almost almost 2 hours in town at a taxi stand with almost 60 other people in the rain for a taxi....thank goodness we got a ride home with folk who have learned how to make money due to a poor taxi service...thanks kids...I am an old person from Timaru who loves music..which is acoustically correct..not at your stadium though....but thanks we are still laughing about our experience at the Aerosmith concert

“DO NOT GO HERE FOR A CONCERT!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Went to the Aerosmith Concert....we got in very early for tickets and booked at the back of the stadium due to some of our group of 10 saying that was the best place for sound (after going to the Elton John concert).
When we got to the stadium, because they hadn't sold many seats, they closed the back stand and put us on the side about 3/4 the way down (where we had specifically avoided as we KNEW the sound would be awful there).
Found out that we were sitting with people that either had half price tickets ($49!! - we had paid $144 each!!) and also those that were given free tickets (the organisers were handing out tickets to restaurant managers in town asking them to GIVE them away!!). Upsetting enough...and then the sound. There are no words....we couldn't hear anything but a buzzing noise. Couldn't even tell what songs they were playing. 3 of our group got up and walked out at the same time heaps of people were walking out. Myself and my daughter managed to sneak into some seats closer to the stage (where others had left as the sound still sucked there, just not as sucky as we were sitting). We stayed for the concert because really, when are we ever going to see Aerosmith again...but that will be the last time i go to a concert there!! Disappointed my rates are going to this.
In all fairness tho, the stadium is great for rugby games, and that's what it was intended for. Too bad i don't like rugby!!
