“Want to enjoy Dunedin at the most? - Select the Hazel House!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I can really say that our stay at the Hazel House was the nicest and most comfortable during our 3 weeks trip through New Zeland! Brant and Sandy are amazing people who make their visitors feel like in paradies.
Our highlights? The very helpful tips on the "must sees" of Dunedin from Brant, the very delicious breakfast from Sandy, a cool glass of white wine which made our evening even more relaxing in the beautiful main room of the victorian villa, the good talks to Sandy and Brant and - of course - relaxing in their Spa after a day full of new New Zealand experiences!
We really, really enjoed our stay at the Hazel House- and if I ever go back to New Zealand, the Hazel House of course will be the first address I will ask for a room!

It's our pleasure. I'm not sure how we get the best guests who travel around NZ, but we do. Sandy & I enjoyed relaxing in the spa last night. A great way to finish the day.
Thank you for your lovely words and yes, we would love to welcome you back to Hazel House some time in the future.

We felt at home from the first moment, the room is spacious and nicely decorated, there is a separate big and comfortable lounge for the guests, the house has much charm. Sandy and Brent do a perfect job in giving advice for planning sightseeing and Dunedin offers a lot of things to do and see, so we would suggest to stay at least for 2 nights. The breakfast was yummy. We really enjoyed staying there very much and it was a pleasure to get to know this lovely couple.

Our first B&B on our New Zealand Tour was this special one. Hazel House, a house with character, atmosphere and beautiful rooms, is runned by the very nice couple Sandy and Brent. They give you a hearty welcome and their great hospitality make you really feel at home. The breakfast is plentiful and the baking perfect. Our advice? Go there!

The two nights we spent in the Hazel House B&B were one of the highlights of a three weeks trip through New Zealand. Why? The victorian villa is beautiful, the room with separate bath room was nice, the guest lounge a lovely room and the hosts Brent and Sandy were very kind.
Brent gave us all details regarding Dunedin, the penguin spots and the beach - Sandy served us a magnificant breakfast in the comfortable guest lounge. We had white wine in the evening and were allowed to use the jacuzzi in the back of the house ... good to relax after a full day. The Hazel House with its owners Brent and Sandy is truely a place to be!

Thank you for your kind words. I love the garden too, especially those strawberries. It's great to share such a gracious old villa with guests, and to welcome people as you would family.
We have been so lucky to have such marvellous guests from all over the world and of all ages. This last month having some young children was fun too - Sandy is a great grandma and the toys come out pretty quickly. Thank you again.

My husband and me stayed at the Hazel House in January 2013 for two nights for our honeymoon. The B & B is in a beautiful Art nouveau villa with high ceilings and nice stucco and big, big rooms. We had a lovely furnished room (very quite, no street) and a big separate bathroom with shower and bath. In the evenings we could use the spa outdoors with a beautiful view over Dunedin. The breakfast was very rich and delicious (we love the poached eggs...) and served in an oriel. Sandy and Brent, our hosts, are very kind and we felt very welcome. If you want to see the penguins, Brent knows the place where to find them :-)
We can only recommend this B & B and thank Sandy and Brent for the lovely stay!

So pleased to help make your honeymoon a happy and memorable one. We love having guests, sharing our lovely house and this great city. Dunedin is amazing! Lots to see and experience.
We love the walk to Tunnel Beach, to the cave at Long Beach, and I must head to the Pyramids on the penninsula again soon.
Dunedin also has a marvellous range of restaurants for everyones taste and occasion.
Thank you for your comments, for coming to Hazel House & we hope to see you again one day. All the best!

My husband & I decided that for our travels in New Zealand, Dunedin would be the place we'd spend Christmas away from family for the first time. I thought we'd feel a little melancholy, but Sandy & Brent's home was so lovely and comfortable that is was a pleasure to be there. Their home is lovely and our room very private and spacious. The dining table was picture perfect, complete with a little Christmas tree and litlle wrapped gifts under it for us. Tea and cookies were always available as was their company if needed for suggestions, help, or just a chat. They practically offered anything needed in their home, but we found nothing lacking. There was a little pub and church a couple of blocks away, well within walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your kind words. We loved having you stay. It's the litle things, the detail, the extras that make it enjoyable for us having guests. Christmas is a time for family and we enjoyed our Christmas dinner with mum & dad. Hope your year has started positively.
