“The best night of our trip.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2011

We went to New Zealand for 8 days and stayed in many hotels but this apartment is the best accommodation that we did stay. We just felt like home.
The apartment was well-equipped and you got everything you need.
They also had a dishwasher and laundromat.
The owner was also very nice.

I recommend you to stay here if you were in Dunedine.
Coz after our 8 day-trip, we felt very comfortable here.

Also, I've got an upgrade from 1-bedroom to 2-bedroom with a stunning view.

The apartment is really more than just a holiday apartment: it's spacious and furnished with an eye to detail. nothing shabby, nothing cheap. REALLY nice furniture, even chocolates on the bed.
The location is really good. Although you are not in the city centre, you've got supermrkets and restaurants near by.
the washing machine and seperate dryer are top notch (very important if you are travelling with a baby:-)) and as they are situated in the bathroom, you can use them without being disturbed while watching the telly or eating.
Only downside, the water pressure in the shower is very low and the curtains are no blockout curtains, which isn't a problem for the bedroom facing the back, but the one facing the front isn't ever really dark, as there are streetlights right outside and dawn makes itself know as well.
Still, great place to stay, would recommend.

Jay & John are 'Naturals'; they are ever so helpful. There is no standard corporate blurb with this couple. They look after you from booking all the way through to waving you good bye. Modern decor, artwork, exceptionally comfortable bed, nice touch with the pot pouri, sumptous lounge, fully stocked kitchen, personal DVD & novel library!, etc, etc. The village of restaurants, cafes & specialty shops is literally a 1 minute walk. The views over the harbour are quite spectacular also. When we go back to Dunedin we will be booking there again.

We stayed only 2 nights in these well appointed apartments. They are well located, spacious, superbly equipted and tastefully furnished. The service provided by the hosts was first class and Roslyn village is convenient and has most things you might need. The selection of DVD's & magazines are thoughtfull and given that most of Dunedin's many wonderful attractions are spread out, the location is as good as any and in a very nice neighbourhood. I would highly recommend Roslyn Apartments

As an ex Dunedinite who loves quality accommodation this place ticked all the boxes.
If you want the homely, safe friendliness of Dunedin the stunning views, lovely homeliness with the sophistication of world class accommodation, this is the place for you.
Book early, as this isn't a huge impersonal hotel - but it's not a 'homestay' type place either, which can be a bit 'in your face' at times. You can engage with the owners if you want, or be as private as you like.
Because there was a big event in town and we left it late to book, the only way we could stay for the week was to switch apartments half way through to a smaller one at the back. The view was just as great in the back upstairs place as the front one - sensational in fact.
The hosts obviously care about the people as much as the apartments. While the brochures and websites show lovely leather couches and nice tap fittings, what you don't see from the outside is the 25 DVD's in every place, the nice Radox shower soap instead of tiny individually wrapped soaps that don't work, the plentiful supply of towels and cups, the fact that one of the owners is medically trained and could help with first aid if need be - the things that make you leave you feeling comfortable and wondering why. We found the beds really comfy in both apartments.
The supermarkets is so close you could throw your groceries home. Fresh choice is the better one. Even closer is the best fish and chip shop in the south - try the chop suey patties. Awesome supply of restaurants and hilly but easy walk to and from town.
Great spot in a great city. 11 out of 10.

John & Jay went out of their way to welcome us to NZ . Their village of Roslyn has a fabulous view over Dunedin, the bay and Otago Peninsula, and it's just a short bus ride down into Dunedin. Roslyn has great restaurants (must dine: Zucchini Brothers), bars, pharmacy, clinic and markets. We will definitely be back.

The Roslyn was a perfect choice for my family, very spacious and clean with modern furniture and fittings. Our friends we traveled with stayed in a luxury hotel in town and said they wish they had stayed in a place like ours instead. They paid about the same money and had no view or lounge room.. The washing machine and dryer were well received after traveling around NZ for 2 weeks, and the owners were very nice and easy to deal with.
The "Cafe Strip" nearby is very handy for groceries, coffee or even a nice dinner. The Take out is really good too, which is what we did coz we wanted to enjoy the view from our lounge.
