My husband and I decided to visit the little known area of the Catlins, down the bottom of the South Island. We arrived at Curio Bay not knowing what to expect as we found the accom on a website with not too many photos, but without a word of a lie, this is the nicest place I have ever stayed, and only $170 a night, which for down there is quite expensive, but wait till you see what you get.There is a visitors book there and every single person either mentioned the body surfing little hectors dolphins, the waddling yellow eyed penguins, which can all be seen from your super king size bed or the fabulous sunrise, we have travelled all over the world and it was great to know our favourite new place is in our very own country.PS As this is a very romantic getaway there is no TV, which is great, they have a lovely range of CD's, great coffee beans and a bed to die for, enjoy.
