Arriving at 2am didn't worry the owners of this centrally located B&B. Breakfast in the morning was self serve allowing you to set your own pace. Cereal, fruits and toast all fresh and available along with tea and coffee. The rooms were large and well decorated. The roomy bathrooms are gently warmed by underfloor heating. Although next to the pub we were not disturbed by any noise. The pub itself is wonderful, great 'real ales' on tap and we were luck enough to be there on a night of live music. We ate in the pubs dining room and were blown away by the steak. Generous, juicy and oh so tender. Matched with a NZ red this was a great choice. For the tourist it is a short walk to the CBD, sadly currently fenced off due to the earthquake. But we walked to the museum, botanic gardens and went punting on the river. We felt very comfortable here and would have been happy to stay longer.

Room Tip: Choose one of the larger rooms as they are back from the street frontage. The Kilmore was a good siz...

We stayed here for one night before flying out of Christchurch to Asia. I am usually not a fan of B&B's as I prefer the anonymity of a hotel, but found this place on line and thought we would try it. We were greeted by a very friendly young lady on arrival and were impressed that Pomeroy's had a cute funky elegant feel to it. It is outfitted with attention to detail from underfloor heating, funky lamp shades, fancy yoghurt for breakfast, and everything is very clean. Adjacent to the B&B is a restaurant and pub owned by them as well that serves craft beer. The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly allowing us to taste the different beers before deciding which to choose. We stayed on a Wednesday night and the place was packed - always a good sign you are in the right place!

the rooms were posh while retaining a homely feel and the place is right next to a great bar with good food and music, but is not at all noisy. it's just a short walk from the city centre and the host (steve) made us feel really welcome with fresh bread, cereal, fruits and more in the morning for breakfast and a great introduction to the beers available at his restaurant next door. we had a great stay. thanks steve!

The room was lovely: big comfortable bed, roomy bathroom with a heated floor, good toiletries, a quiet space with a view to the garden. What more could one ask for? Help-yourself breakfast of cereals with fresh and preserved fruit, toast and spreads, plunger coffee, fruit juice.
Pomeroys is a pleasant 1.5 km amble from the cathedral in a quiet street opposite the river. It's on the airport side of town. It's a small b&b with only half a dozen rooms in a sensitively renovated house.
And it's next door to the pub (complete with a thankyou note from the next king of England). Good food, good service and good booze with no need of a designated driver.
This is a great place to stay in Christchurch.

As soon as we arrived we were treated with great friendliness and courtesy by the lovely owner who offered us a pint of delicious beer to get us going. The atmosphere was really cheerful in the crowded pub and we immediately liked the place. The rooms are round the back in a quiet area and we weren't disturbed at all by the drinkers. Rooms were large and well appointed. Breakfast was a very good DIY affair with plenty of fresh milk, jams, breads etc and coffee and teas in a pleasant common roo.
We like the place so much we decided to eat in the pub and were not at all disappointed - fantastic steak and excellent burgher all fresh and home made.
The location is quite a walk into downtown Christchurch but very pretty along the Avon.
Definitely a geat place to stay for some genuine NZ hospitality.

Booked into stay at "Pomeroys on Kilmore " its a real Boutique Guest house, villa that has had a fantastic tastefull make over, great paintings all NZ art, Bedrooms have ensuites, and very well designed. I stayed in the Avon room front of the House, could sleep with windows open at night, the garden is a great palce to relax and enjoy a glass of wine in the sun. The owner Steve Pomeroy is a fantastic host, next door is Pomeroys bar and Restaurant , a fine selection of beers and the meals at the restaurant were some of the best I have ever had. The Bar is a small slice of UK. I was booked in for 3 night and ended up staying a week ! Free internet .......I'll be back.

My partner & I had a 1 night stopover at Pomeroy's. What a shame only 1 night. This place is just gorgeous. The rooms & bathrooms are so nicely done and the decor is cozy, quirky & trendy all at once. The kitchen set up is also outstanding. The cottage is unassuming from the front, but once inside, it is really, really lovely. The pub is right next door and here we had the best meal of our NZ sojourn. The chicken gumbo, fantastic, and the steak, cooked to absolute perfection....I would highly recommend this place. Only about a 10 minute direct walk into the main centre, or a pleasant 20 minute meander along the river. We were not bothered by noise from the Pub, but I guess this may be an issue at times..
