“Roomy, close to everything, home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2010

The last stop on our trip and what a great place to stay. Had a 2 room apartment with good sized rooms, us at one end and the kids the other with a very good sozed living area and large kitchen (with everything) in between.

Undercover secure parking, enough for 2 cars per apartment. An easy 5 minute 9if that) stroll to the centre of the city but if walking is not your go there's a tram stop 100m away.

The units have sky tv with far more channels available than other places we stayed (which were great too) and free access to the internet.

We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Christchurch.

My husband and I stayed in West Fitzroy apts for 12 days. We had a superb one bedroom apartment, it had full kitchen and bathroom facilities, free parking plus a balcony. I booked this accommocation online and the people or ran the place were very helpful and friendly. We loved Christchurch (weather was bit iffy when we visited), plenty of bars/restaurants within walking distance aswell as tourist information, money exchange. Went on the the Maori Experience, throughly enjoyed that, with great food at end of tour (hangi I think it was called), not too many on "experience" when we went to it made it much more personal - would def recommend this experience. We hired a car for a week so we could visit further afield too. Did Whale Watching in Kaikoura (stayed overnight - Anchor Inn Motel) and Nelson (stayed overnight - can't recommend name of hotel) but it was excellent with apartment faciities. DId so much more, but to much to mention - great!!

Would love to go back to NZ when saved up enough dosh!!

This was one of the best accommodation experiences Ive ever had. We stayed for a week in the superior one bedroom, and got one night free. The rooms were just like the photos on the website which surprisingly doesn't happen that often with hotels etc. Also unusual, was the fact that there was more than just what the website showed! There was a full and lovely kitchen, a nice bathroom, laundry facilities, a lock-up garage, a deck looking out over the tram, a lovely bedroom with an AMAZING wardrobe etc etc. Its just a short walk to town, and was an easy place to stay. The room key was available to us even on late arrival, and we felt entirely at home. One caution, when we stayed there was no eftpos facility. This may have changed, but just be aware :) Overall very satisfied.

I came to the Fitzroy apartments having been sorely dissapointed by my experience at the nearby Crowne Plaza. I had a neat and clean one bedroom apartment with its own basic kitchen/dishwasher, good bathroom and comfortable bed. The location is two blocks from the centre of town and an easy walk to many eateries. A far better and more cost effective option than the five star hotels in the same area.

  • Liked — Convenience, excellent in room services, cleanliness.
  • Disliked — Not anything to dislike.

Great location, walking distance into CHC centre. 20 minutes from airport, parking spot for car. Great for families, kitchen facilities and washer and dryer. Balcony over looking the street, very quiet. Sky channel available. Would recommend to stay here. Full security. Safe area of town - we walked everywhere.

We got a great deal ($115NZ) per night on a 1 bedroom apartment at West Fitzroy Apartments. The location is great, close to the Botanic Gardens and the Cathedral, as well as plenty of restaurants. The apartment has a nice kitchen, fully stocked with plenty of glasses, pots, plates, and other utensils. The TV has SkyTV as well as a DVD player, and the washer and dryer worked great. We were on the 7th floor and had a great view from the balcony, and the apartment was very quiet. There's even a small gym and book exchange on the first floor! Also, a free parking spot comes with the apartment in the basement garage. Do note there is no daily maid service and you have do do your own dishes, but it's worth it for all the apartment amenities!
