This B&B is in a residential area of Christchurch. We stayed here for one night between arriving from Napier by air and departing on the Trans-Alpine train. The location is good for this: 10 minutes by taxi to the station and 15 minutes to the airport. The B&B is a 15 - 20 minute taxi ride to the centre of Christchurch.

Our hosts were welcoming and friendly, offering wine and canapés, plus some good advice for a restaurant 5 minutes walk away - Misceo Café and Bar - that produced excellent pizzas with 10% discount for those staying at the B&B. They also organised an early continental breakfast before we left for the train.

We had a large room with a comfortable bed. The room was quiet even though a main road runs past the B&B.

A 3 night stay at the beginning of our holiday and one night at the end. Janet and Ian were brilliant hosts in a lovely home. We enjoyed all the treats mentioned by other reviewers and also had the pleasure of two evening meals - not to be missed. It was really good to go back at the end of our holiday and be welcomed back so warmly.

We stayed here for one night at the end of a tour of south island. Having stayed at several very good hotels our expections were high. We were not disappointed, the room was fantastic with every need catered for. Janet is a very good host and provided tea in the garden and made a booking at a nearby restaurant for a meal in the evening. We were also invited to join Janet, her husband and the other guests for wine and nibbles before dinner. However breakfast the next day was a little disappointing as we were not given a choice of hot dishes, but presented with a frittata style dish. This was delicious, but at this level and price, I would expect a choice, all the other hotels and B&b's had several choices and cooked to order. To be fair I did not complain as I was not very hungry.

Stayed here 3 nights at end of South Island tour. Everything that other guests have said about how good this place is, are true. We had a wonderful welcome from the whole family. It was my birthday and they celebrated with us in the garden with champagne. Their advice on what to see and where to go were spot on and nothing was too much trouble. They booked bus trips, restaurants. The rooms were beautiful. Breakfasts were fantastic, with lots of special home made recipes. We have nothing but praise for this wonderful B&B.

We stayed here 2nights after arriving from a long through flight from the U.K , we were welcomed in early to freshen up , given restaurant bookings and advice on what to do and see. The room and the hosts are all that you could ask for , bus outside the door but we walked to Christchurch through Hagley Park with no effort. This is just outside Christchurch in a suburb on Clyde road but highly recommended .

This was just the most delightful place and couple. Highly recommend. The house and gardens were awesome. We actually showed up and found out there had been a mistake due to a hotel booking site which will remain nameless and that we hadn't a reservation. But Janet took it on to take us in (upgraded room at no charge) and then found us a place that was also a 5 star B&B (but didn't compare to this one). I can't recommend this place enough. If I'm ever back in Christchurch, this is where I will be staying.

We only live round the corner, but I booked a night at Tangley as a Valentine's Day surprise and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The house itself is stunning, Ian and Janet obviously take a lot of pride in their property and it shows in every room. Everything is very tastefully presented with period features and artwork throughout. I called beforehand to enquire about dinner and Janet was extremely helpful and honest, in no way trying to up-sell to me. We arrived to a friendly welcome with a nice bottle of wine and nibbles laid out in the lounge for us, and ended up taking it outside into the very pretty garden area to sit in the evening sun. The room we stayed in was clean and again beautifully presented and we slept like babes. The en-suite facilities were immaculate. In the morning we came down and had breakfast with Janet and the other guests which was delicious. Everyone was extremely happy and friendly which was a testament to how much they were enjoying their stay. I thoroughly recommend Tangley on Clyde if you are looking for a bit of old-world charm and a friendly place to stay in Christchurch. 5 stars!
