“Moving & Inspiring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

Having been somewhat sceptical about the creation of this Cathedral, I have to say I was so glad to be proved wrong. Visiting this amazing space is one of the most humbling experiences I have ever had. It is truely a moving, inspiring and peaceful space. The design is a sight to see. The feeling inside leaves you moved.

Please make sure you visit this wonderful space if you are in Christchurch.

A great building rising from the destruction of the old cathedral. A must see part of the city which is in a sad state but this was a beacon of hope.

“A little shocked at the expense of creating this monument”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

I had read about this cardboard cathedral having been designed by a well reputed emergency architect, and was quite shocked at the time and amount of money that went into creating it, especially considering the circumstances!

The idea of the cardboard pillars used for structural support are a very unique concept, and the finished cathedral is a well executed design. Its worth taking a look.

There isn't a fee to visit, but they do ask for donations based on the running costs of the contraction, which is when I read about the construction costs. It seemed a little over the top given that the rest of city CBD still needs to be rebuilt.

“Looking around Christchurch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

I liked Christchurch, thou was surprised by how much rebuilding there is still to do after the earthquake 3 years ago. The Cathedral is a temporary structure and it is fairly impressive. behind the cathedral itself is a monument to the people who died in the earthquake, Chairs all painted white, all different, from babychair to wheelchair and everything in between. One for everyone who died. This was a interesting tribute.
