Quake City is a must see for anyone visiting Christchurch. It gives information about historical earthquakes in New Zealand, but more particularly provides information about the September 2010 and the February 2011 earthquakes which devastated Christchurch. The displays not only show both pictorial and hard evidence of damage caused as a result of the earthquakes, but there is video footage of victims telling their stories of how the earthquakes affected them personally. This is really moving and may be quite confronting for some visitors. But it also shows the spirit of the city's residents and their resolve to rebuild their city and their lives. Quake City is in the Re:start Mall, so you can see two things at once when you visit.
