Thought I had better give it a go time to compare, being a teppenyaki fan, from yamagen and @ tonys,
Good customer service on arrival, but upon being seated, found our assigned teppenyaki booking (was told it had to be 6pm if we wanted a seating on a grill) was now a dark dingi corner buy the toilets.
How ever, apart from the difficulties reading the menus, my mother was happy. Plenty of tables elsewhere s kinda insulted.,
We decided to get the teppanyaki set menu as originally planned.
Sashimi platter was good, well sourced salmon.
But as the teppanyaki dishes cam out there was alot of serving issues with our table, sometimes with 5 minute delays with our 4 person tables sets, only serving 2 people at a time...
veges and fish teppanyaki was good, very limited quantity, the candle was finally lit so we could see better.
Beef was well nuked, ordered rare to medium. Was well done... great cuts of meat destroyed.
Then in confusion after waiting another half hour with no service, we were offered desert... not realizing they forgot the chicken set.. we reminded them and it arrived in another 20m or 3 drinks/ $30 later,
Anyway we moved on from that issue and I squared up the bill.. certainly not worth $315 for 4 people, with remorse and shock checking the bill I payed and moved on..
It might be in Merivale but that dosnt mean they should charge $42 for $10 bottles of wines, or $9 for beers served in plastic glasses large sake were $26 for 5-7 nips very stingi...
I dont mind paying for quality service and the vibe of teppanyaki, but found "Ace?" wasabis dark dingi back door toilet seating, & poor service price and quality was a $300 joke,
