Description: The Restaurant, One Good Horse, has a feel reminiscent of the by-gone era of early 1900's horse-racing days. Its early 20th century-infused decor holds an echo of the times when prosperity and the great horses had people flocking to the races; taking their chances on the big names and champions like Phar Lap, Seabiscuit and Cardigan Bay.

“Better than I expected!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

I had heard about One Good horse and thought it would be usual pub food but I was more than happy. Food is really great but still reasonable prices. Most dishes are what you would expect but done very well.
I ALWAYS save room for desert and challenge everyone to have the Crunchie Ice cream cake. It is the best desert i have had.
Whole place is themed and even though i have no idea about horse racing it is interesting to look around.

“Great on a cold night!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

A lovely meal on a cold Tuesday night. We even sat outside next to the gorgeous gas fire and felt as though we could have stayed there all night! The rump steak (with veges) and the Caesar salad (with chicken and bacon) were delicious and well presented, definitely going back!

“Great Fish & Chips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant is part of a suburban tavern in Burwood and is worth trying. A reasonably extensive menu with quite a few salad option. The fish and chips were good. I would definitely go back.

“Off and racing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

This restaurant in a suburban tavern has had new owners and/or a huge makeover since my last visit when it was known as Woodpeckers. Brilliantly interior styling with all sorts of what appears to be original horse racing memorabilia, right down to a full set of old tote windows set around the wall and pages from old race books papering the walls.
Large menu with something to suit everyone. After much deliberation I ordered the slow braised pork hock, only to be told they had sold out. Close second choice of the pork spare ribs was delicious and served with a baked potato and a very good coleslaw with an oil & vinegar dressing.
My dining companions had enjoyed a large lunch, so two went for the lighter options of a fresh & spicy tomato soup and one for the chicken wings - comments were very positive.
Meals observed at others' tables led me to believe I'd be happy to return here to try more.
