“Reasonable for a big family”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2011

It's difficult finding accommodation for a group of six so it's nice to find something that caters for it. Two bedroom unit was OK, food etc. within walking distance. Pretty noisy for me as I don't ive in the city, the main road near by is very busy. Good info re things to do from the staff. We only stayed two nights and arrived very late, everything was left ready for us which was great.

This motel was booked for me by a family member. She was aware that I would be requiring a nice hot bath at the end of a couple of long days travelling. Yes this unit had a bath but not enough hot water for more than one person to use it!!! I found the room quite stale on arrival which on a lovely hot day with a pleasant breeze was unnecessary. Located on a very busy road. I would not recommend this accommodation

My experience at this motel was appalling. The unit was dirty and smelly, as was the office. There was no hot water to shower!! I had to wait until the morning for a shower after a long da of travelling. This would be the worst motel I have ever stayed in. The only beauty of the entire experience was that I had only booked the one night - and thank goodness for that!

Room Tip: Take extreme care if you are located in the top units...the coverings on the stairs are dangerous!

We stayed in this motel for one night, a group of four woman adults. The unit was smelly and stale as well as being very poorly supplied. (two flannels for 4 guests), lack of pillows and the pillows provided were pathetically thin and dirty, with some of them being without pillowslips. The two spare pillows in the wardrobe were unwashed and covered in someone elses makeup and hair. [---] hairs in the bath. No spare blankets or bed coverings so too bad that it was a very cold night!!! Of the four lights in the lounge, two were blown and the bedside lamp was also blown. When approached, the Hotelliers wife was very miffed and reluctant to assist. While this unit has a bath, after one bath the unit was then without hot water which meant the other three could not shower or bathe ( and this is totally inadequate after a day of long travel!!). The most serious concern was the unsafe, lifting, torn and dangerous carpets covering the external stairwell to the top units. Located on a very busy and noisy street.

We only stayed for one night to catch early flight the next day but our experience was a good one. The place is not fancy but our room was clean and with a seemingly new and modern kitchen area and bath. A man at the desk was able to pick us up at the airport the evening we came in since we has to return our rental at the airport. He also gave us a recommendation for a delicious Malaysian restaurant within walking distance. One note: wireless internet was not easily available, if at all. II think there would have been charges for any decent amount of web surfing. Also: the airport shuttle service they offer is not available until 8am on the weekends. We had to catch a cab ($10 NZD) that morning to get to the airport on time for our flight.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Christchurch Motel. The units were beautifully clean and I was plesantly surprised at the quality of servicing our unit got in the morning as I was there two nights. The man in the office was very friendly and made us feel very welcome-a home away from home. I was very comfortable, the location wasn't ideal but it didn't actually have any effect on my sleep or quality time with my new husband =) I would definitely recommend staying here.

We arrived five days after the earthquake. Despite the local difficulty we were given a very warm welcome. The accommodation was spacious and spotless. The Colemans helped us get our bearings and find a restaurant - no easy task on that Sunday evening. Many thanks for all your kindnesses.
