“Wish I could stay longer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

We only stayed at Eliza for one night and we wish we could stay longer.

Ann is very nice and attentive. She asked our arrival time and I told her it would be 6:45pm by bus. When we arrived, she could even tell the bus ran a bit late then scheduled. They even carried some of my friends' luggages upstairs which we didn't expected.

We like our room very much ,we stayed in room 3, the Bulter's room. Forgot to mention to the host and hope they can read from here that the shower need to be repaired as there are some leakages.

I love the dinning room and we had great breakfast there.

We stored our luggages there while we were waiting our bus. Ann served us a pot of tea (and she remembered I like Earl Grey tea which I ordered during breakfast ) and coffee.

There are few different types of roses in the garden, must see if you like flowers.

Last but not the least, when we check out, we got a Teddy for each of us from Ann, we were so delighted. Ann also showed us her singing Teddy which dances as well - "I feel good ""yeah"

Antique b&b and great host!

We stayed twice in November and were able to view 4 of the fabulous rooms! Ann was the most wonderful host. She greeted us outside like friends and knew our names on arrival. The breakfast was amazing and the location perfect. We had the best time and cannot rave enough how wonderful the place is and how amazing our host Ann was! We will definitely be back!!

We have stayed several times in this beautiful house. Harold and Ann have done an incredible job in restoring this historic building after the earthquakes. The rooms are very comfortable and very well appointed. The breakfast could not have been more delicious. I would particularly recommend the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The guidance provided re local information was very helpful. If you are thinking of staying in Christchurch you could not do better than book in to Eliza's.

Room Tip: Heritage room worth the extra.

Our first B & B in New Zealand and what a great choice. Ann and Harold were wonderful hosts and could not have been more helpful in every respect. Their local knowledge re bookings was brilliant, it makes sense to book things that are affected by the weather when you are there rather than in the UK. For example:- Trans Alpine train, Heli hiking etc. The devastation of the earthquake is unimaginable and it is essential that we all keep visiting to help their recovery.
Ann's eggs benedict are the best that I have tasted anywhere in the world, even offering a choice of fillings! Om our departure we were given a farewell token of one of her personalised teddy bears what a great momento.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back.

I visited Christchurch for the first time with my husband. As arriving at around 2p.m., a very a gracious hostess, Ms.Ann welcomed us with warm‐hearted smile and told us where still off-limits is because of twice earthquake. It was very useful information for us as foreign tourists. The room was so lovely and sophisticated. Varieties of tea and homemade hot-chocolate are available. We really enjoyed staying at the hotel! Furthermore as leaving, we got special presents! Thank to Ms. Ann our days in Christchurch were an especially memorable!

We extended our 3 week Tauck Grand AUS/NZ trip with 3 days at Eliza's. What a great choice. ANNE was so accomodating, even getting up at 5AM to see us off on our last day. The INN was beautiful, the food superb and the hospitality second to none. We would HIGHLY recommend ANNE and her INN. We loved NZ and the TRANZ-ALPINE Train Ride.

Room Tip: Choose a top notch hotel and they will all most likely be good..

During our three-week stay in New Zealand and Australia, we stayed at many wonderful hotels. Eliza's was by far the best. From the heated bathroom floors to the teddy-bear decor, the amenities were top-notch. But, the one thing that placed Eliza's in a category of its own was the charming warmth of our hostess. Plus, her knowledge of the city and the places to see helped make our short stay even more memorable. No detail was left untouched and the willingness to please was genuine.

Room Tip: Our street-facing room provided a nice view of the Eliza's gardens.
