We stayed in a suite in the old government building. It was perfect. Great room. Quiet. Great amenities with a good bar and restaurant and very friendly staff, which is not all that unusual in NZ. The hotel is only a half block from Cathedral Square. Right on the trolley line with easy access to restaurans and sightseeing. The only down side was that the bed needed to be replaced. Other than that I wish we could've stayed longer.

We loved the city of christchurch and the heritage had the best location right in the centre of town close to everything. The view from the room was great, so was the staff. we stayed in the tower and had 3 major problems - the room was clearly over priced at aud 199 compared to other hotels around, the room was nothing special but just average and yes it did get noisy till late night due to screeching cars below. anext time in CHC, will try other hotels around that seem more appropriately priced.

We were charged nearly $200 a night, and this did NOT incl breakfast. The room had a pillar in the center of the room, so we couldnt see the TV easily from one side of the bed.

My wife and I stayed in a suite in the historic part of the hotel. The first night it was too noisy with traffic and people on the square. The second night we moved to an inside room and it was quiet as could be. We found the hotel overall excellent. So if you dislike noise ask for an inside room and you will have a great stay with excellent service and friendly people.
