Central Location,very relaxing excellent service The staff were all friendly and courtious.The Japanese Restaurant was well worth visiting even for me who is often described by friends as fussy because I like meat and no greens. We enjoyed having guests there for a nights fine dining and entertainment. Close by is the renowned Hagley Park which provides excellent paths for early morning walks

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this centrally located hotel. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms were well appointed and well maintained. Room service and housekeeping were responsive and quick to meet our requests. We loved the Valet Parking service. Our major complaint is the outrageous charge for internet - 68cents per minute. In these days when internet is so essential for travellers it needs to be included or at least be offered at reasonable rates. Modern internet cafes are within a block of the hotel and charge $3/hour compared to the hotel's charge of $33/day which you incur after 50 minutes on line.

This is our second stay on their Club Floor, the last being three years ago. Since then they have refurbished the club rooms, with new carpets and beds (the bed was a king, and was very comfortable). There still seems to be the same fitted furniture though, and I could not really see much evidence of refurbishment of the bathrooms, apart from a new shower head (which was much needed!). This is a pity as although I wouldn't describe these things as dated, the room would definitely feel more modern if they were updated. What we really like about the club rooms is the view across the park and to the rest of Christchurch; the park at the front gives a great feeling of space and views to the surrounding hills, which I suspect is harder to find in other hotels.
The best thing about the club rooms is access to the club lounge. I am glad to say this is just as good as last time. The drinks and canapes in the evening were excellent, and you were left to help yourself to the drinks which created a relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast was excellent, lots of high quality items, and discreet service with great coffee!
We are glad we returned to the Crowne Plaza, and will do so again.

We got a lovely Club room on the 10th floor, very roomy and with a very comfortable bed. The Club lounge on the 6th floor offered a good selection of drinks and canapés. The staff is warm, friendly and happy to help you if you need assistance. There is also a free guest laundry room with complimentary washing powder. This is a good hotel for both families and couples
