I knew from the correspondence that Sally would be the perfect hostess.
Very accommodating and helpful.
Beautiful, relaxing, quality accommodation. Delightful location in beautiful gardens of home grown edibles, some of which you taste at breakfast.
I was completely in love with our bathroom, both the decor, size and functionality.
Impeccably clean, light & fresh.
Delicious breakfast.
Perfection, many thanks Sally.

Room Tip: all quiet and beautiful i'd wager

Our room was bright and sunny, and a good size. Breakfast was fantastic - so many organic goodies to enjoy and great conversation with Sally and the other guests. The bed itself had great linens and had a good firm (but not too firm) mattress. The little balcony was perfect for enjoying the complementary in-room tea service. Free wi-fi that had a strong signal and was easy to connect to. Guests should be aware that for the room we were in while private the bath was not ensuite. Still, the area of the house we were in felt very private (I don't believe anyone else stays in this part of the house unless traveling together and taking multiple rooms).

The location is just outside Christchurch City Center (a very easy drive into town and simple 20 minutes to the airport), and it is like a peaceful oasis with the flower-filled gardens. Sally's taste in art and decorating are just perfect. Cozy, tastefully artistic, sunny - just what you want to relax and refresh. The B&B is also a display case for the beautiful art by Sally herself and her daughter. Before you go, print out or take a screenshot of the directions to get to the house as you may pass the turnoff easily.

Sally was also very flexible and generous with her time which made us feel at home and was just what we needed before our long flight home. Wish we could have spent more time getting to know her and relaxing!

Room Tip: I believe there are only 2 rooms (2 double rooms and 1 single room that can be added for families t...

Many thanks to Sally for the breakfasts (my favorites were the yogurt and the homemade fig & ginger jelly), for the tin of biscuits, for letting us place an extra mattress on the floor, and for welcoming us into her home. It is a bit awkward to be in someone's home but she makes you feel quite comfortable there. She provided suggestions on activities and restaurants. We also were able to use the wifi and enjoy time out on the deck in her beautiful gardens.

Featherstone B&B is simply charming. Sally is a wonderful host, and made us feel like we were staying with dear friends. Our bedroom was nice and opened into a lovely garden. The private bathroom (a step across the hall) had a heated towel rack and a large counter that made getting ready in the morning easy. The kitchen and dining area are beautiful, overlooking the garden and the lovely purple wisteria. Breakfast was delicious, Sally's homemade marmalade was a real treat! We will definitely be back if we return to the Christchurch area.

If you stay, make sure to check out Sally's screen prints and her daughter's framed prints that add delightful touches around the house--gorgeous!

An absolutely charming quaint, rustic B n B house set in gardens on the edge of Christchurch. Delightful room with patio doors opening out onto the garden. I am a regular traveler using recommended B n B's rather than hotels. Featherstoe has to be one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at. Just so homely with an attentive elderly owner, who prepares a homemade breakfast in there country-style kitchen.I have no hesitation in recommended this home to other travelers. My first ever review. I just felt I should let other people know how much i enjoyed my stay at Featherstone.

Room Tip: Just check out B n B'S listed on Tripadvisor. 2 perfect rooms in a rural setting but close to Ch...

We stayed in Sally's bed and breakfast for two nights and loved it. Sally is very friendly, charming and accommodating -- she made us feel immediately very welcome. The rooms were comfortable and cosy. I enjoyed sitting on our little deck with a good cup of tea and admiring the garden -- Sally is a prodigious vegetable gardener! We all enjoyed eating her delicious food, some of which came from the garden, and talking to her and her husband David. My husband and David even played music together -- guitar and recorder. Featherstone is full of warmth and personality -- there's even a beautiful harpsichord, which David built himself, in the hall. It was lovely staying in a place that had a country feel but was only minutes from town, and Sally and David's warm welcome ensured we enjoyed our visit to Christchurch.

A friendly b&b in pretty surroundings on the edge of the city which is quiet, comfortable and very clean. There is a bathroom for the sole use of the guests and the hosts are very helpful and trusting. A tasty homemade continental breakfast.
