“highly recommendation house rental in Christchurch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Our family stayed a week. A lovely large multilevel home with plenty of room to spread out. Owners are warm and helpful. Our adult children, grandson and ourselves were all very happy with this home away from home. It will definitely be the first choice of accommodation when we come back to Christchurch.

Excellent rental, a home away from home. A large house over multiple levels allowed our family to spread out. Enough space for entertaining. Views of the entire city. Owners friendly but in no way intrusive. Stocked pantry a huge bonus. Great hi speed wifi.

A Nest on Mount Pleasant was the perfect start for our newzealand adventure. we spent 3 lovely nights with our to small kids and had a perfect stay at the Nest. Kathryn and Kai were amazing hosts and fulfill every wish we could think of. there was plenty space for the kids in and outside in the garden. we could not have a better start for our holiday. thanks to kathryn and kai for their great hospitality.

The few days my husband and I spent at the Nest were made all the nicer by the kindness and gracious hospitality of its owners, Kathryn and Kai. After a long journey to Christchurch from Canada, we were met at the airport by Kai which was such a joy. The Nest is located on Mt. Pleasant and commands terrific views over the water. The B&B is a separate building from Kai and Kathryn's house - and is complete with its own kitchen, living, dining rooms, laundry and family room. Our room, Fantail, was spacious and comfortable, with a queen bed and a single bed (which we did not use) and had it's own bathroom and a small verandah; as well, we had free use of all the facilities - which was nice!

Kathryn cooked up a delicious breafast (bacon, eggs, toast, juice, tea/coffee and jams and jellies) for us every morning, and we were able to use the kitchen for snacks or a cup of tea after a long day of sightseeing around this beautiful area. Our hosts' knowledge of the area was a great help to us, and we were made to feel very comfortable as we sat on the patio, chatting!

Location: about a half hour drive from the airport (or a NZ $60 taxi ride.) If you are staying there, you will need a car to get to and from the main part of town to the B & B, but it's worth the drive as the views are spectacular. Parkiing is provided in the garage. (As an aside, the house is built into the side of a hill, so there are several starways to negotiate. Consequently, I would not recommend this spot for anyone who is disabled or has a problem with stairs.)

The Nest is not fancy or chic, but it's warm, welcoming and a real home away from home. A peaceful and quiet oasis, we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay, enjoyed the warm hospitality of Kai and Kathryn very much indeed and would have no hestitation in recommending this B & B to anyone. We hope to return in the very near future!

The Nest is off the beaten track, but that's one of its assets. It's in a quiet neighborhood high in the hills above Christchurch. Bedrooms are small, but the common areas are spacious. There is plenty of room to stretch out. There is complimentary Wi-Fi and if you aren't packing a device, there is a PC for guest use. The living room is comfortably furnished and there are plenty of DVDs to choose from. The outside decks are peaceful. We were also provided with garage space for our vehicle. The owners, Kathryn and Kai were very welcoming. They are happy to offer suggestions and info regarding the Chch area. We enjoyed chatting with the two of them very much. Staying at the Nest reminded me of a stay at Grandma's house. The place has got some years on it and not everything matches, but you're sure glad you're there!

A Nest on Mount Pleasant is a great B&B stay in Christchurch. The house is very well appointed, clean and has everything that you need. There is plenty of space outside your room to relax, and the house surrounds are very peaceful and quiet. Delicious breakfast and excellent hospitality from your hosts score this B&B an 'excellent' rating.

A Nest is a very pleasant B&B in Christchurch. You have great views from up there and it is absolutely quiet in the night. Great hospitality we experienced. The B&B is a house for the guests and there is much space outside the sleeping room to use.
