We booked one of the powered sites for two nights as this was our first stop in the South Island.
Arriving relatively early the first day, having flown through the night and just picked up our campervan we were allowed to check in straight away.
The lady on reception was lovely, so welcoming and helpful. She showed us where to find shops, provided a map and highlighted the route and even gave some recommendations on good phone companies for buying a sim card. She really could not have been more helpful.
The park itself is very well maintained, nice gravelled powered plots. The facilties, - toilets, showers and kitchen are extremely clean and well stocked with supplies for cooking.
As far as the location goes it is a bit out the way, we decided to walk there and back to Christchurch city centre which took just over two hours for the full journey. However, there is a bus stop outside the park and the staff are more than happy to help with info on prices and timetable.
The only negative I would have and I feel slightly bad for saying it, is the amount of permanent caravan residents on the site. We didn't have any problems with anyone and in fact they were all very friendly, but you are surrounded by them - and we felt a little bit like we were intruding on private land, as people would often stare at you and have a look inside the van, etc, so can make you feel a bit uncomfortable... if that makes sense.
In general a very nice park.
