“Icy Wonderland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

I had 3 hours to kill before I caught a plane and decided to go to the Antarctic centre.
It was fantastic.
The interactive exhibits, ice room, 4d and hog thingy ride were unreal.
I really recommend paying the extra $5 for Sir Edmunds commentary. Was a real buzz to have such a famous person giving such a thorough commentary.
5 things to bear in mind.
1. If you want to see the penguins being fed, get there on opening. It can take a while to get through the queue. I got there at 1030 and missed most of the feeding.
2. The hog thingys (cant remember there name) are cool but the best view is the front passenger seat. Get at the front of the queue, take a video camera (still photos don't really do it justice) and hold on tight. Its really bumpy.
3. I allowed 3 hours. It wasn't enough. I reckon a minimum of 4 hours to do everything.
4. Upgrade to the everything ticket. The extras are definitely worth the money.
5. Go with someone. there are heaps of places for cool ME photos, so its handy to have someone to take the photos.

Wow! What a fantastic and in depth review, thanks so much! I love reading about our visitors having a great time here and I'm so glad you made the most of it. The Hagglund is such a fun ride an the Penguins definitely put on their best show when it's feeding time! We hope to see you back again soon!

“The big freeze, and you play with cute penguins”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

You want to experience a small taste of the modern polar experience?.......Well,picture this......The room is chilled to 25 degrees below,so you can brave the simulated storm or take a ride on the Hagglund vehicle used to get around the ice.
The audio visual on the Scott Base is superb and the penguin encounter lets you get up close and personal with some blue penguins. Great for the kids, as well as, the adults

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and for your kind words. We are incredibly lucky to have an all-weather attraction where it's dry and warm on rainy days and wonderfully cool and air-conditioned on the very hot days. The Penguins are little cuties arent they?

“Journey into the Great South Wonder”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

I have visited the Antarctic Centre on 5 occasions. A great learning experience for the kids (from 3 - 16yrs).

The behind the scenes talk and visit of the penguins was wonderful. The huggle ride is thrilling and bumpy fun. The 4D movie expericence was a great new addition.

I must also mention that the gift store and the cafe are very good value. Great staff.

“Ok, if you dont have anything else planned..”

I liked the short movie, small museum and a quick ride. Tooooo Expensive. My son liked the blue penguin i bought him as a remembrance. Could have spent time some where else.
