A friend and I have been touring on motorcycles in various places including, USA, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia etc. So we have seen a number of bike rental places.

SPMT provided the best service of any group we have ever rented from. They were fantastic. From meeting us at the airport, providing the best, cleanest, well prepared bikes, providing some local orientation, maps, advice on routes and even a cup of tea before we left and as soon as we arrived back.

Afterwards, neither of us could think of any item of service they had done badly or left out - the worst we could come up with was that they were too talkative when we were preparing to leave!

All the bikes are well cared for and polished brilliantly before being let out.

When we got back they had recommended a local B&B which Mike again drove us to (it was great). From end to end full service.

My husband & I had the trip of a lifetime with South Pacific Motorcycle Tours. We booked our 22 day tour several months in advance and received prompt and attentive service from Carole & Mike. They were always eager to answer any questions we had and put our minds at ease about what we should expect. We booked the superior tour which included all 5 five star accommodations for 22 nights. All breakfasts and most dinner meals were included (we ordered right off the menu like anyone else) All the gas was paid for by the guide so we really didn't have to worry about a thing. I must say we were very inpressed with the accommodations on the south island especially. Our guide, Paul, was quite a character. He kept the pace for the group in a way that made everyones ride enjoyable. Our driver, John, who drove the van with the trailer to carry all our luggage, was very knowledgeable about most of the places we visited. He was very informative and helped us get the most out of stops in the different areas.
Our motorcycle was all we had expected-well maintained! There were new tires on it and when we got a nail in one they insisted on replaceing it with a new one even though it wasn't leaking. They did all this without disrupting our trip in the least.
We have talked about taking this trip for years and when we researched it "South Pacific" came out the winner. We did our homework and they didn't let us down.
This truly was a trip of a lifetime. It was everything we could have hoped for and more!

Just returned to Canada from a trip to New Zealand, where I hired a Honda VFR800 and riding equipment from South Pacific Motorcycle Tours.

I have patronized several rental firms in Canada and the USA, and South Pacific was the best by far. The motorcycle, luggage and riding equipment were all top notch and in excellent order. Everything went according to plan even with the disaster going on in Christchurch. The hosts were very gracious in offering to take care of any necessary arrangements amongst the chaos due to the earthquake.

Anyone thinking about a motorcycle tour of NZ should stop thinking and do it. On some days I rode 30 to 40 minutes at a time without seeing other vehicles! The terrain changes to a new face every hundred kilometers. A thouroughly enjoyable trip.

N.Americans might want to spend a few days in a rental car before jumping on a bike whilst you get used to driving on the 'wrong side' of the road.
