We were back for a second visit and the apartments facing north are excellent. They are older style but very comfortable, walking distance to the city, frre parking across the road

We were travelling with another couple on a South Island holiday and had a 3 night stay in Christchurch. I booked Poplars over the phone after 1st searcing the internet. Even though we were close friends we valued our privacy and own space! We stayed in a 2 bedroom superior apartment on th 1st floor.
The Poplar was a perfect choice. We had two bedrooms with firm extremely comfortable superking beds. We also had two bathrooms-1 ensuite and the other directly across from the bedroom. This bathroom also had spa bath with back masage points. (the shower was over the bath in this bathroom-but the bath was extremely high to get into-warning for those elderly or not too nimble!)
The furniture even though a little tired was really comfortable. This aparment was spacious and well appointed.
All the staff were very professional, courteous and friendly. No request was too difficult. This included getting a waitress in early on our day of departure so we could enjoy a breakfast before our early check-out. Outstanding!
Cooked breakfast was included in our room rate of $250 NZD per night. This was for 4 adults.
The breakfasts were of a very high standard and became a highlight of our stay . We looked forward to the fresh tasty selection each morning.
We also used the complimentary gym and pool facilities in the complex next door.
I cannot recommend the 'Poplars' highly enough. It represented great value for money in a central location.

Not far from the shops/restaurants - a good base to explore Christchurch. Reception staff very accommodating.
We were getting married out in NZ, and mentioned this before we went - to our amazement, we got a free upgrade to the presidential suite! So generous of them - and it really was a stunning room - huge, with a large dining table, kitchen, mezzanine floor with spa pool bath. Only trouble was, we didn;t want to leave the hotel!
They also gave us complimentary internet access so we could Skype our folks back home.

Thanks Poplars (and in particular Jamie on reception) for such a wonderful stay - you made it very special.

Value for money, this well positioned, close to Christchurch city centre, was all the things you look for in an apartment hotel. We were all very happy with our stay. Even free phone calls and broadband. We know where to stay next time we go to Christchurch. Thoroughly recommended.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay @ The Poplars. Our room was a one bedroom studio with well equipped kitchenette & a very comfy kingsize bed. The apartment building is overlooking parkland (with the Avon River running through it) & is within easy walking distance to a great restaurant area and the city's cbd including Cathederal Square. Rooms are accessible by lift. The Hotel also has its own restaurant which seemed very well patronized. The reception desk's staff were always very friendly & helpful. Underground parking is very limited so suggest u pre-book your car space. I suggest u book directly with the Hotel though as we went through a booking agency & our request for a 'loft' apartment & a view of the park & river were not passed on to the Hotel.

Initially the building looks and feels like a converted office building that has been nicely converted into a quite clean set of apartments.
We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the 4th floor that was well equipped for families and close walking distance to all the attractions.

The Poplars restaurant was excellent but a little on the expensive side.

Hi there.

Thank you for the lovely comments, We appreciate the feedback and because of them we have since changed the restaurant menu to nothing over $12 for breakfast and nothing over $15 for lunch.

We hope to see you in the future.

Kind regards

My wife and I had a very pleasant stay here...the location puts you within a easy walk to the center of Christchurch and the apartment we had was excellent....the price is reasonable, and the parking is included.
