OK, so this review covers two visits, both within a week of each other. The first was a late night supper. The food was lovely, the service was pretty dire: the waitress spilt a drink on one of our party, ignored a request for beer, didn't ask if we wanted a refill, etc. All of which we forgave as we thought perhaps it was an aberration. Sadly a second lunchtime visit confirmed this wasn't the case.
Again, great food, poor service. The atmosphere also suffered due to shouting among the staff - not necessarily arguing, but raised voices. After the waitress cleared our plates, it would be usual to ask if we wanted to see dessert menus or would like drinks. Sadly, this wasn't the case. After attracting another waitresses attention a long black was requested with water on the side and arrived without it, instead the coffee was drowned. A hot chocolate ordered by the youngest member of our party failed to arrive, and when we asked for it a second time more shouting ensued behind the bar. When it did arrive, the waitress managed to spill it all over the saucer. No apology or serviette was offered. It was announced "The worst hot chocolate ever" and left behind as we went to pay. That too was a cursory experience leaving us to conclude we were an inconvenience rather than welcome guests.
