“Stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2012

Great place to stay, two couples stayed in a roomy 2 bedroom apartment. Very friendly Tony and Brenda own the motel and will give you a very warm welcome. Few mins walk from a big supermarket and the town centre. Overall really happy with our stay here!

We were a bit uncertain where to stay when visiting the top of South Island, and eventually chose Blenheim as we secured a very cheap flight to Wellington compared to Nelson - and whilst I'm sure Nelson is great, Blenheim was a very pleasant surprise. Blenheim may not be a tourist hot spot but this and Picton with the nearby vinyards proved a great spot for a few days and we'll definately return.

The Lugano was the icing on the cake - fantastic welcome, with delightfully friendly and helpful hosts. The room was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. The kitchen particulary was presented to the highest standard with all the utensils and crocks you could want for. Very nicely presented small outdoor seating areas for smokers. Bathroom highest standard.

The position could not be beaten - very central just a short walk to shots, supermarket and the bars. My only regret was that we did not borrow bikes to tour the vinyards - we found the cellar doors very welcoming and much less formal than those visited in central south. Sadley we chose to drive and as nominated driver I can only report the wine smelt good.

I would heartily recomend Lugano - one of the better, if not best motels we used during our visit.

Room Tip: The one bedroom units give plenty of extra space.

Excellent motor lodge on Seymour Square - walking distance to town and close to restaurants.
Friendly and hospitable managers and the cleaning ladies were great too - nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed as a group for a wedding and enjoyed sitting outside in the sun
Although I'm not a smoker they do cater for those who do with smoking areas and seating

Room Tip: They have a couple of two bedroom family units available - spacious with a seperate lounge area. The...

We stayed in this motel because it was within 6k of our winery bicycle tour. We weren't expecting much, the price was right and the location was good. Our expectations were greatly exceeded! The staff was extremely friendly and recommended a great place for dinner within walking distance. They even lent us an umbrella because it was raining outside and we left ours at home! The room was clean and spacious, and the kitchen facilities were great! I definitely recommend staying here.

From the warm greeting at reception, the restaurant recommendations, beautiful suite, location and general ambiance it would be hard to ask for more. We stayed in room1 which is a ground floor one bedroom Suite, with kitchenette, eating table, living room, bedroom and nicely done bath with a large two person Jacuzzi. Everything was clean and inviting and we throughly enjoyed our two night stay. There were even picnic tables and sitting benches outside where we enjoyed some of our locally purchased wines from the vineyards close by.

We had to book this hotel at the last minute due to having to change venues due to the Christchurch earthquake. Lugano is in a very central handy location. You can easily walk to the shops and restaurants of Blenhiem. The owners/managers were very friendly and our room was spacious. Brilliant shower. The room was well kitted out for self catering if wanted. There is a park opposite which is very pleasant. If you stay in Blenheim this is ther perfect place.
