“Most divine food & wine experience in Blenheim NZ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Herzog restaurant & winery has become our must visit whenever we pass thru Blenheim, located in the Marlborough region in NZ.
They offer wine tasting (small boutique winery -organic wines & they remind me of some of the best italian or french wines I have tasted)
Begin your taste experience with a sparkling Therese Rose -sublime.
they offer bistro meals & fine dining.
We have 2 favourite restaurants in the whole world & this is one of them.

“outstanding bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We arrived rather late for lunch at the bistro but they were nevertheless accommodating and attentive. The food was outstanding (we especially loved the spiced couscous!) and a very good value. Since we were the last people there, we had no wait for anything, but our experience may not have been typical in that respect. We would highly recommend it.

“Tasty wines of all varieties”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

This boutique winery grows many varietals - some of which are not grown anywhere else in Marlborough. A tour shows that much of the work is still done on premises and by hand.

“A favourite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

We've eaten at the bistro before, sitting in the garden whilst the sun set. Idyllic with great food and wine as a bonus.

This time we had the degustation in the main restaurant. Great food, great wine and good service. However, we missed the ambience of the garden and the times taken between courses made the meal very long.

We'd always return when in Blenheim as it is one of the best in the area, though probably to the Bistro.

“Lovely meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

We had a great experience with the degustation menu. The food was better than excellent, the service was very good.
My one complaint would be the time between courses. With a degustation it is nice to have a good gap between courses but 4 hours is too long for dinner.
I think the chef did a great job, each course was interesting and had plenty of "wow" factor (with the possible exception of the cheese). I loved the "amuse bouche" though it seemed more like an appetiser. The clam was incredible.
This is certainly expensive, prices at the top end for Auckland, the service and food was really good and the wine list extensive. I would recommend this restaurant for a real special occasion splurge.
