“Amazing farm stay near the vineyards!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We loved our stay at St Leonards. We stayed in the stables and had a great view of the sheep, deer and lemon grove from our own little garden. The stables were comfortable and spacious and have a lot of charm. The hosts are very welcoming. Love being able to use washing machine and washing line. Loved the fact that there were free bikes, helmets etc, the bikes are extremely well maintained and we had a wonderful cycling around the wine region. Daphne suggested a lovely winery bistro to eat and it lived up to expectations. We would love to return!

I stayed for one night in The Old Dairy - I was on my own on a photography trip - and this was perfect! I didn't want a boxy little room in a motel unit and The Old Dairy was exactly what I was looking for. It's small, but ideal for one or two people on a short stay, and oozes character. The charming owners, Paul and Daphne Radmall, have done it out perfectly and in keeping with the character of the place, with nice touches such as willow pattern china and hand-quilted cushions. It was spotlessly clean and well-equipped and an unexpected bonus was the breakfast provided in the fridge, including home-made preserves and eggs from their hens. The vineyard setting is lovely; the cottages are dotted around the mature garden of the homestead and it's all surrounded by vines; there are also sheep, deer and hens and lots of garden birds - it's a perfect place for families. Add to this the fact that it's only five minutes from central Blenheim and that there's also wireless internet available, it's an ideal place to stay when visiting the area. I've taken a couple of their brochures to give to friends and would certainly highly recommend it to anyone else.

Daphne and Paul Radmall are the owner and management of St Leonards Vineyard Cottages. Property is lovely in every way, this super-chic-classy yet reasonably priced enclave of spacious rooms and cottages surrounded by gorgeous vineyards and a farm. St Leonards Vineyard Cottages are eco-friendly, lushly comfortable and offering amazing surrounding views of Marlborough. We stayed in the comfort of “The Stables” have stunning views, equipped with TV, A/C, Heating, Wi-Fi, Kitchenette and a bathroom. Complimentary breakfast served daily mostly made of St Leonards own fresh products and delicious jams home made by Daphne. There is a pool and bicycles, which Paul gladly offered us to ride and we did wine tasting riding bicycles. Marlborough’s quality wineries are champion in Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Sparkling. We discover MOA beer is also coming from Marlborough made by Josh Scott and located just next to Allan Scott vineyards. Restaurants at Herzog Estate, Domaine Georges Michel and Café Saint Clair Estate are paradise for foodies. Town of Blenhiem and Renwick are located at a short drive as well as regional airport. We paid a day visit to Kaikoura to experience marine life like seals, whales, dolphins, and eating crayfish. My tip, if visiting Marlborough and want to stay close to the action St Leonards Vineyard Cottages is pied-à-terre of choice and yes it will be my choice on my next stop at Marlborough.

We spent a weekend here in April 2013. The weather was wet and the rain didn't stop the whole time we were there, but that didn't matter as the place was so comfy and snug. We were upgraded from the Shearer's Quarters to Anna's Cottage and it was excellent. Daphne was very helpful and very knowledgeable. We would definitely stay here again, maybe next time we will get to see the sheep and the deer.

We stayed two nights in The Stables cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a rustic, interesting property about 10 minutes drive from town towards the airport. It has about 5 separate former farm buildings converted into various sized studio-style accommodation. There is also a petanque court and swimming pool.
The Stables is the last of the buildings on the track around the property and we suggest it is most suited to a couple. It looks out on the picturesque grove of lemon trees and the deer, sheep and chickens that "mow the grass" beneath the trees! The other outlooks of the cottage are the grapevines of the adjacent Wither Hills vineyard and the back garden of the owners' home, which is beautiful with lovely old trees and flowers. The Stables is very private, with window-high lavender and rosemary hedges outside and it has outdoor seating at both the front and back of the building.
Inside it is a longish room with a queen size bed, a sofa by the wood-burning stove, TV, a small dining table and chairs, a small book exchange library, kitchenette and bathroom with a shower. It was adequately provisioned for coffee, tea and breakfast of cereal, milk, toast and eggs, although you may have to request more of the homemade marmalade and jam if you stay more than one night - they were delicious! A heat pump keeps the space cosy on a cold night.
Daphne is a friendly host and very helpful with recommendations of restaurants and vineyards to visit. A most relaxing stay.

Such a beautiful place. most gorgeous little farm! we stayed in the shearers quarters and it was awesome. We cooked there every night after playing petanque next to a beautiful vineyard.
The owners were super nice.
We had fresh eggs every morning from the hens plus home made conserves.
There were walnut trees every where (which fed us for the rest of the two weeks travelling)
Very close to all the wineries and I am so glad we got to stay there!

We stayed at the old dairy in late March after touring for some time in a campervan. It was such a welcome break. The smaller of the cottages it is still a good size for a couple and well equipped with everything you could need to self cater. The complimentary continental breakfast was great. Paul and Daphne were very accommodating, we wished we could have stayed longer. The rest of the property was lovely too we thoroughly enjoyed meeting the deer, sheep and chickens!

Good value for money and a great location to explore the vineyards (bikes included with booking!).
