“Very Clean and Comfortable Unit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2010

Our unit was very clean and very well equipped, parking was right outside the door.
Hosts were very friendly and helpful and organised our wine tour for us.
Restaurant was just a short walk away and the ASURE Sundowner Motel was directly opposite a supermarket and shopping mall.
Great swimming pool, especially with Marlborough's high summer temperatures while we were there.

We only stayed here one night, but the people were very nice, and the motel room was spacious and perfect for our needs as we were on a budget.

PROS
- Doug and Dorothy were lovely people, advised us a nice place to eat in Havelock (about 25mins away) called The Slip Inn, and it was very nice. Also assisted us in booking a wine tour, and supplied us with free entrance voucher.
- Our room was spacious, the decor was slightly out dated, but perfect for those on a budget and only staying one night. Kitchen was well equipped, and there is a supermarket opposite.

CONS
- On a main road.
- No special frills, and your car is parked right outside your room's patio doors which some may found off putting.

Word of warning, this area is not a busy metropolitan area, if you are planning on eating out make sure you go early, we tried to find a restaurant serving food at about 9pm and couldn't find anywhere open.

I stayed at this motel for one night in order to be close to the train station and wineries. It was okay for a one night stay at a reasonable price, but I would look for someplace nicer and more expensive next time. The place was clean, and the staff was just okay. It was across the street for a grocery which was good, but there were no decent places to eat nearby.

Our three night stay was most pleasant. The Sundowner is easily found off one of the main roads out of Blenheim and noise was not a problem. The unit was tastefully furnished , well equipped and very clean. The Hosts, Doug and Dorothy, were very friendly and most helpful..The swimming pool is a great asset and most welcome after a day 's driving. The lawned area at the rear of the units is accessible through patio doors and is a good place to relax. We found the stay to be excellent value for money.
Large supermarket with cafe on other side of road and very good restaurant in the Springfields Tavern, a short walk away.
If you enjoy real ale the Blenheim Blues and Brews Festival is a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

We stayed at the Sundowner in Blenheim for 5 nights in April while we holidayed around the South Island. We were delighted with the service. -The staff went out of their way to assist us and were friendly, knowledgeable, and most importantly professional.
The unit we stayed in was immaculate and was maintained to the highest level throughout our stay.
We were pleased with the location of the accommodation -it is very well placed and close to all the main attractions. -There were several restaurants within walking distance, and the unit had a wonderful brochure with a variety of places that would deliver on the nights we wished to stay in.
All in all we were very impressed with the Sundowner. -We actually felt like we were on holiday and were being looked after they whole time. We would not hesitate in choosing them on our next holiday to the South Island.
