“Great location,great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

The setting and backdrop couldn't have been nicer and the main courses were lovely but our dessert left something to be desired.

“Nice food, location & staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We went to the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre and treated ourselves to lunch at Wither Hills. The staff we had on the day were very attentive to us. They had had a coach load of people and were busy clearing and resetting tables, so informed us that as we were dining we could do a wine-tasting, which we did while we waited (not too long!)
We had a light meal from the lunch menu and shared a dessert. The food was excellent. The coffee was good too. It's nice to get a little complimentary "treat" alongside your coffee cup, however, I personally do not think the meringue (or forgive me, was it a french macaron?), not to be a good accompaniment. It was very difficult to eat (and looking at the dropped bits all over the floor, I could see I was not the only one who had trouble here!!). Suggestion: how about a homemade butter shortbread with a "W" crafted within it?
This winery with restaurant is the closest one to the Aviation museum, and recommended as there is very little in the way of food at the museum.

Hi Muriwaidonna,
Thank you for taking the time to give us such wonderful feedback! I will let the chef know of your suggestion regarding the coffee treats too. Some of the white 'meringue' that you may have seen in the restaurant may also be the white stone chips that stick to people's feet as they come up the walkway too - especially when we have been busy such as with the bus tour.
Thanks for visiting us and we hope to see you again sometime! =o)

“Amazing Food!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Amazing food!! Well worth the splash out, considering the places around town are a little pricier this end of the island anyway, this food is well worth it! Go the Pork Belly!!! Definitely get the recommended wine match...if only I'd thought of that earlier! They think of everything at Wither Hills, a beautiful place to stop for lunch.

“Nice wine.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

We went to Wither Hills for lunch as part of a 50th birthday celebration. When we arrived we went and took a seat on the couches and had a glass of wine as we were waiting for the rest of the group, we informed the staff that we had a booking and that we were just waiting for the others, we soon overheard the staff pointing at our table and complaining that they were about to ring the people who hadn't arrived for their booking as they were 5 minutes late! The staff were cold and unfriendly, and also were not attentive to what was going on, ie. forgot parts of our order. Although the lady who gave us the wine tasting was lovely and knowledgable about the wines. Nice wine.
Food was quite nice and well presented, some people enjoyed theirs more than others.
We would not go back.

Not only is the food fantastic, the building architecture is amazing. The staff are attentive and the atmosphere is great. Perhaps the best place to eat in Blenheim.
