“The Rail Trail at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Thanks to Geoff and the great company of those on this inaugural tour for the Molesworth Tour Company, this was an outstanding experience. Great weather certainly helps as did the super comfortable gel seat that Geoff provided me with but I have to comment on the great activities that were added on to the cycling that possibly makes this a stand-out tour. We loved the new experiences of curling in Naseby, clay bird shooting with locals in Lauder and learning heaps about Alaskan Malumutes at the Real Dog Adventures near Wedderburn. The accommodation that Geoff had booked included Kokonga Lodge, Danseys Pass Hotel and Dunstan House and these were all appreciated after a day of cycling. The quality of the accommodation and food at Kokonga Lodge was the highlight and I can see why Sir Peter Jackson also chose this place for his base during the filming of "The Hobbit". It was great to have our final night on the Trail at this superlative location. Our final day was an enjoyable ride before a fast clip back to Queenstown Airport. We still had time for a great lunch at Ewes and Moos Cafe in Ranfurly which I would recommend along with the Ranfurly Hotel, Wedderburn Tavern and Muddy Creek Cafe in Omakau which were our other lunch stops. Dinners included the 3 course meal at Kokonga Lodge which was superb and the Post Office Cafe in Clyde was a great start to our tour. All the bikes were well maintained and none of us needed running repairs, just the derrieres!! Thanks to Geoff for another great tour with the Molesworth Tour Company. Looking forward to the next one.

“The Molesworth Bike trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

This was a fantastic trip made enjoyed by our informative guide, great weather and fellow bikers. The scenery was inspiring and truly amazing. Lots of great picnics and dinners. The biking was challenging but satisfying. Whizzing down the Lewis pass was magical and learning to draft was great. Getting our names on the honours board was a fantastic achievement and so many of us too.

“passn thru”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

although my wife and I live in Blenheim we went thru the molesworth just last week by car,for anyone that has not witnessed the outback (so to speak) it is a memorable experiencewe left home at 7am getting to hamner springs at 2pm,the DOC office said it would take 5 to 6 hours driving due to a 50kph speed restriction.one can appreciate how the folk from the 1800,s must have endured the harshness of winter and isolation.what magnificent scenery and views we saw on our way through, the winding Awatere river snaking its way down through towards seddon.although a dusty shingle road sometimes very roughand a couple of minor crossings.so for anyone that wants an experience of a lifetime travel the molesworth you will not regret it

“Wow! High country at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

From the moment we were picked up at our hotel at the beginning of the day, to when we were dropped off at the end of the day we were entertained, informed and awed by the trip to Molesworth Station. Geoff is full of stories about the area, its current and past residents as well as tidbits about the history, geography and lore of the region. Since my return, I keep getting asked the question 'what were the highlights of your time in N.Z.' and the trip to Molesworth is top of the list! Good value for the money. Thanks Geoff for an unforgettable experience.

“I want more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

What a wonderful insight into New Zealand's farming heritage. Everything taken care of so we could relax and absorb the atmosphere created by Geoff's wealth of stories about hardy clans and their battles against each other, the elements and various governing bodies of the times - better than any movie about America's wild west! My only regret is, I would have liked more interaction with the environment, so I'd do the cycling or the tag-a-long, 4-wheel self drive next time.
